you can manually set the transition interval at:

this file: jquery.bxslider.js
line 66: // AUTO
auto: true, //default=false
pause: 20000,

this file: jquery.bxslider.min.js
line 10: pause:20e3

i changed it to 2000 an 20e3 (this is the same)
change it in both files

i Had the same problem, maybe good to mention this in the install instruction?
I don;’t want the back-end to also change to De, only the front-end. Is that possoble to achieve?
