In reply to: [GEO my WP] Results Template not workingAs I make changes, I see the grid display come back. But then I’ll make a different change, and it disappears again. Undo that change and it does not come back. There seems to be no pattern to it – no setting that I can pin the blame on.
New issue: I have created a second map, using all the same settings but a different custom post type. The search form was showing, but now it is missing.
I was very pleased at first, but this is becoming quite frustrating to use!

In reply to: [Ultimate Wordpress Auction Plugin] PHP Timezone is InvalidHello Nitesh,
I am having the same problem. WordPress reports this as a critical error when your plugin is active, and it stops reporting it when deactivated. It is certainly this plugin and not another.
“PHP default timezone was changed after WordPress loading by a date_default_timezone_set() function call. This interferes with correct calculations of dates and times.”
Ultimate WordPress Auction Plugin
Version 4.0.6Thanks,

In reply to: [User Menus - Nav Menu Visibility] Easy to use and works wellI can’t think if any improvements or new features to the plugin itself. However, I would like to see integration with Code Atlantic‘s other plugin Content Control, so that I can reduce the number of plugins I am using. If integrated, I would prefer all configuration to be on the menu/page/post/category/etc., similar to the way User Menu is currently set on the menu itself, rather than the separate “settings” area that Content Control has.
The distinction between “Content” and “Asset” is probably clearer to a developer than a user. When your description says “Restrict access to media…to logged in/out users or specific user roles”, it implies to me that the files are protected – without any distinction. I know I’m not the only one that has taken this interpretation.
However, I have since learned this is more of a WordPress limitation. Some other CMS systems provide better “asset” protection. I moved my website from one such system to WordPress to get better overall functionality and, more importantly, to make it easier for someone else to take over, when that time comes. There are so many more WordPress users…
So I’ll have to deal with the limitation. I’ve only found one other plugin that provides this level of protection, and only via a rather expensive pro option. I’ve also learned how to prevent the url from being found by browsing. So I can use your plugin to at least prevent access to pages that include the file urls. That will have to be good enough. If someone passes a url around (unlikely, in my case), at least I have nothing truly “top-secret”. And since there is no plugin offering this for free, I’m happy to bump it up to 4-stars.
One star is deducted for what I’ll call “ease of use”. I prefer the way the “Members” plugin and Code Atlantic’s own “User Menus” plugin allow the roles to be set directly on the page/menu. It is easier (my opinion, of course) to set them when creating the page/menu/category/etc rather than later going to the plug-in settings. It is also easier to confirm at any later time, by going directly to the page/menu/category/etc to view the allowed roles, rather than to the plug-in settings.
As your plugin provides access by page and/or category, and “Members” only to specific pages, I’m using yours and have deactivated “Members” – despite my view on “ease of use”. Thank you for the added functionality.
…you would still have to manually do the work. If you have to manually do the work already, what do you need a plugin for?
Because your plugin serves up a useful message to the user, and also provides control of pages and posts, either directly or by category.
In the meantime, I have reactivated this plugin, for which I am grateful. I did not find anything other than “Prevent Direct Access”, which requires a pro subscription for this level of protection. It is beyond my budget (non-commercial site).
I added a setting in htaccess to prevent browsing, so the urls cannot be found that way. I also put the private files under a folder with a password-like name, so the path could not be guessed at based on the context of the files. Now it is up to me to ensure the direct url does not appear anywhere on my site. For instance, I am using a plugin to display pdf files. It requires the url (does not work with the permalink). So I’m using your plugin to prevent access to the pages where this plugin is used (based on category). Only users with the required roles will be able to see the full paths, and I’ll have to trust them not to pass them on. Fortunately, I am not dealing with anything that sensitive, so that level of trust is enough.
I’ll have to take your word on the performance issue related to “Prevent Direct Access”.
I also like Rolf’s obfuscation suggestion, to prevent the path from ever being seen.
Same here.
The permalink is protected, but the file URL is not.Example:
https://<domain>/<filename> <— this is protected
https://<domain>/wp-content/uploads/<filename> <— this is still accessibleI am disabling this plugin and searching for another. I’ll check back to see if this is fixed, because this plugin would replace two others (if it worked), and I’d like to minimize the number of plugins I’m using.

In reply to: [Beautiful taxonomy filters] Show full hierarchyUpdate: The formatting of the “Search & Filter” plugin improved dramatically after I realized it was somehow inserted inside a ‘pre’ block.
I’m afraid this will now be my preferred solution, due to- The ability to show the complete hierarchy
- The ability to include the filter on a page (if possible with BTF, I have not figured it out
Your styling is still somewhat better, and if I can show the filters on a page in addition to a widget, and if the full hierarchy can be visible, BTF will once again become my preferred solution.
The test page listed above will likely be taken down soon.
Thank you.

In reply to: [Revision Control] Great implementation of missing WP featureI understand that you’re not actively supporting this, but I will give you what information I have, in case you find it helpful. Since you’re not actively supporting it, thank you for the quick response!
It sounds like you’ve probably got another incompatible revisions plugin installed
No other revision plugins. I can’t say it isn’t one of my other plugins, but I doubt it.
…or you’ve defined the revisions constant in your wp-config.php file to force revisions off.
I’m new to WordPress, but I think revision are enabled. I have found this in wp-config.php: define( ‘WP_POST_REVISIONS’, TRUE);
There’s also the possibility you’ve simply got too many revisions for PHP to process and it’s aborting before it even gets to the plugin.
Not possible. I’m just getting started, there are only a few dozen files and revisions combined.
Sorry it didn’t work for you, better luck with another plugin.
I found another that worked, but I like you UI better. I decided to give yours another try. This is what I found:
This message was displayed on each of my pages after installing the plugin:
“Revision Control: Currently storing an Unlimited number of Revisions”This gives me the impression revisions are active. But when I update a page there are no new revisions listed. However, if I
- select “unlimited number of revisions” or “Maximum X revisions stored”
- update the page
then the revisions appear and future updates add revisions to the list. So it was just a misleading message. I’ve reinstalled the plugin, and will raise it from 3 to 4 stars if I can. I’ll come back after I’ve further developed my site. If all is still going well, I’ll change it to 5. Thank you for the plugin!
(P.S. ability to delete an individual revision really should be a out-of-the-box feature – so good for you filling an important missing feature)
