In reply to: [Plugin: FV WordPress Flowplayer] Shortcode passed to facebook postThere are no video players without issues. You found one which didn’t have issues which bothered you at the time.
uuumm..excuse me, but obviously..the FV player DID HAVE ISSUES (with shortcode) or I would never have made this post or the ones on your support thread. Of course it bothered me..this issue severely delayed opening of the site it was to be used on.
Does it work now?
I cant say..because I have found another solution..and have no need.
I hope it does…but I know it didnt 4 months ago.I am absolutely NOT ‘publishing FALSE information’ Alec. And if you want to throw that “discourteous” word around, then it should be directed back at yourself for that remark. I reported ONLY what transpired..nothing more, nothing less. If that does not suit you, just get over it and stop trying to sugarcoat what was a real and truthful report of my experience.
Your reply times at your onsite support was not an issue really, but the action taken on this issue in particular was slow at best.
I really did like the features of your plugin, but, that was overshadowed by the issue with your code passing through to Facebook, the time it took to correct it, and the other fatal errors encountered while trying new updates..all this ultimately pushed my patience over the edge.
I am not saying everyone will have problems…only that I did at that time.
Please stop trying to make me look like the bad guy.Sorry to differ Alec, but even if the code string issue was ultimately corrected..when I tested the plugin as reported above..I STILL encountered errors..just as stated. Due to that, and the time that had passed without any progress prior to that reply..I switched to JW Player, and have had no further conflicts or errors with SFC or any other plugin related to the video plugin.
I would suggest that you try to devote a small amount of time to reported issues HERE as well as your own site support tho, because imho..the WP Forum support system is much easier to find specific info.
Good Luck with it.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Plugin: FV WordPress Flowplayer] Shortcode passed to facebook postHi Alec. Sorry Im not one to get success from the FV plugin either..but..much like the link you posted above to your offsite support..(404 error for https://foliovision.com/seo-tools/wordpress/plugins/fv-flowplayer )…there were just too many problems involved with using FV player. I was very patient because I liked the plugin and features, but ultimately, the facts are that too much time passed..with not enough results and errors still encountered. I hope you have gotten everything fixed now, but I have moved on to another player that does not give me problems.
Also, while I understand about keeping the support on your own site primary…as I remember from my visits during the time of my issues..it was not as easy to find specific error info on your site as it is here on the WP forum, so that may be something you want to consider, and allocate a little time here too. Thanks for your help with this Otto.
Im glad you were able to work with FV Flowplayer to get things fixed.
However, I just tried all updated latest versions available with wp3 and still get a fatal error between SFC and Flowplayer.
I dont know what the issue is and Im sorry that I didnt pay attention to the exact error, but Im am DONE with the FV FP video plugin because of all the hassle its caused. Im still using SFC and have no issues with it..but I simply must find a video option that isnt so problematic regarding conflicts with other plugins.
Thank you for your efforts tho and maybe that will help them get it right for future users, but Im out of patience.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Plugin: FV WordPress Flowplayer] Shortcode passed to facebook postIts good to see that you did finally get that short code thing implemented. To be honest I had given up on the whole thing because of tedious little problems like this between plugins..updates..just too many conflicts eating up my time.
But recently I decided to give it all another shot, particularly due to this update. I updated core WP to 3.0.1, SFC to 0.21, and FV flowplayer to latest (via auto update, sorry didnt look at the version)..everything looked fine..until I added a test video. IT even worked great when I previewed the page, but as soon as I saved the changes, and went back to test the FB publish function..whammo…FATAL ERROR…and again directly connected with SFC and FV flowplayer, something about flowplayer frontend…sorry for the vague error report, but I am TOTALLY DONE with this plugin. I wish you luck in the future, but if I ever expect to get my site opened..I gotta get something thats not so plagued with problems.
Sorry…and thanks. I do wish you luck with it.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Plugin: FV WordPress Flowplayer] Shortcode passed to facebook postThanks Otto42..guess I just assumed that anyone with a major plugin would have their plugin tags on some kinda feed or something?
Texasbiz…I cant say yet how well it will ultimately turn out, but I made a contact form submission at their foliovision.com site and got a very prompt reply there. Hopefully the solution will be forthcoming with similar speed.– Here is the link to their response –
And its content, just for the record.
We will definitely register our shortcodes if there is an accepted practice for that (looking into that now). We certainly do not want our code to be compared to NextGenGallery ever again.

In reply to: [Plugin: FV WordPress Flowplayer] Shortcode passed to facebook postOK..come on people…if I wanted to be ignored…I would not have posted in the first place. I know this is a free plugin but I dont think its asking too much for a support reply in a week.

In reply to: Creating a WordPress DatabaseHi Mark..not a problem, happy to help/share my opinion.
I cant say if there is or isnt a WP theme to resemble the site in question, but you might look through the THEMES available here and Im sure you can find something close. Also just a suggestion, but you might want to think more in terms of the membership or theme itself rather than “database” as the latter kind of distorts what you seem to be asking about. Yes, data from your plugins and themes can be (and usually is) stored within your database, but thats about as close to being relative as they get. Asking about a database brings forth a whole different issue and may not get you the response you need. ??

In reply to: Creating a WordPress DatabaseCant really help with question 1..sorry…but for a membership site, from what Ive seen in my somewhat limited time using wordpress..I suggest s2Member plugin. Its a little complicated in setup, and you may very well need to balance other plugins with it depending on what you ultimately allow your members to do on your site..but s2Member right out of the box is IMHO probably the most comprehensive membership plugin for WP available and is actively being improved.

In reply to: Is there an automatic tagging plugin?Im sure there may be more and I cant say that these will do everything you are seeking, but, check out WP Auto Tagger and there is another one that is bundled with GD Press Tools.
Thanks Otto42. I figured it was something to do with the flowplayer code string, but was just in hopes of it being a simple adjustment that I could add somewhere. Like a custom ‘ignore this code’ entry.
Im doing self hosted video, which Ive noticed seems to be rather limited for choices of players. Flowplayer seems to work pretty well and so far doesnt trigger validation errors, but if there are any other suggestions for a better self hosted alternative, Im certainly open for it.
In the meantime, I will try to get FP attention to this issue so that a possible solution can be arranged.
Ive made a related post to that effect.. HERE
BTW…I didnt realize there was more than one ‘flowplayer’ plugin, so just to clarify..the one Im referring to is the FV WordPress Flowplayer plugin. Thanks Again.

In reply to: default category problem..errant posts just appearThere seems to be a connection with the Collapsing Categories plugin, as when I tick the widgit setting “Expanding shows: Sub-categories and Posts” …the default category DOESNT display in the lineup any more.
But on the otherhand, selecting..”Just Sub-categories”..allows the previous condition (default cat. ghost/unwanted display) to return, still showing same erroneous post count (is empty, save one draft, but states 15) and 404 when clicked.
Ill keep working on it and lyk what I find, but of course any suggestions are welcome..thanks! ??Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: How to Delete “Uncategorized”?once you have created the new category, go to your WP SETTINGS>>WRITING>> and there you will find a dropdown menu titled “Default Post Category”..select new category and save.
Just curious why you want to delete the category..if I may ask?
