It would be much less secure if you could access the database remotely no matter what tool was used. What they said is correct, install your own phpmyadmin or other web tool on your account. But….. secure it. Password protect the URL it sits under and use login control at the interface itself.

Definitely would be nicer if there was a specific “upgrade” package with the new files only, and perhaps some indication of which files are essential.

yes but we’re getting off track. Even with an upgrade package you would have the same problem in this case if for example the changed files included the default theme. Easy fix there would be to name your hard work theme something other than default.
With a decent ftp,scp,etc client you can upload only files that are new. Push button easy.

many things could be different but they aren’t so I deal with those.
One, I personally wouldn’t put a custom theme in the same place that anything else could potentially overwrite it.
And I’d have another copy of those files *somewhere* just in case I goofed up.

Good to hear. Going by some of your other posts I’m not surprised you got so many “insightful answers”. That’s what we’re here for.

FYI, it is common to post the answers so that the next person might benefit, assuming they do a search; even if the answer is a user mistake (like overwriting a config file).

They probably subscribed to your RSS feeds. This way they can know when you have a new post without visiting the site. If they are interested in the post they will come over. Create a post and ding, they will know about it.

You are using a relative path which makes it look here: /test2/wp-content/themes/homebaseTemp/images/HB_home10x12_home_02.jpg

But your image is here: /test2/images/HB_home10x12_home_02.jpg

You can either put the image inside the theme’s images directory or specify the full path /test2/images/HB_home10x12_home_02.jpg

It activates a selected theme for the admin so it might not be suitable for having non admins to look at but for me it seems right.

You might want to list your plugins that are doing whatever tricks it is already performing. That is NOT a typical WP site but looks and acts more like an spammy aggregation site. People are submitting articles? Why are they all on a different non WP site?

I don’t understand what you mean by “loading hard”. Nothing seems to work on the site in your profile if that is what you refer to. It says 2.2.2 and not 2.3.1.

yse and yes. teh aPi key is for teh stats plugin and it does werk/\’;
if you want themes you can download about several thousand of them and install to yer hearts content. WP is notoriously famous fer not including them…..

On the 2nd or 50th hosted blog you can use an API key.

Suggest reading the docs to get a better grip on the basics. breath deep.

The API key you get from wordpress.com can be used with the wordpress stats plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/stats/
Once you activate it you enter the API key and you’re done.

Hey not bad and as mentioned it isn’t too busy and blinky like xmas themes tend to be. I would suggest a stylized blog name or site logo in the header. Nothing with much contrast to the overall, just something site specific that also blends in.
