  • And thank you for taking the observations in a mature manner. That doesn’t always happen in the online world. Criticisms are often more productive than attaboy comments, they help to make your blog better. But we like bravo comments too, thanks for checking my blog and the attaboy. And it is still too hot right now so I might have to post more snow stories just to feel better… ??

Add categories like you do for posts and pages, Manage Categories. Make the new ones a child of Blogroll (the parent category) and they will appear as expected.

    This should get interesting…
The limit is there so your main page doesn’t bog down with the ‘century’ of posts. Does that make enough sense to you? The search issue indeed should be paginated so thanks for pointing that out, in such an idiotic manner if I may borrow your phrasing.
Kinda strong statements coming from someone with two posts. cuz….

And to put code in this forum you enclose them in code tags.
    <strong>See</strong> I can put <i>code</i> in a post

    • And even a small list of rendered code
    • like this

There is a reason why forums don’t (or shouldn’t) allow random html in a post.

I don’t see what you mean. Do you mean your own RSS feed? I didn’t see other “stuff”.

And yes, upgrade. Do it now….

Not sure without clearer details. Can you show us the site, the site in your profile looks normal. And not that it matters much but could help, is English your first language or no?

Well done. I have zero interest in gaming but yours isn’t the same black theme with blinky dodads of all the others. The Onion News style of articles kept me interested longer than the usual .5 seconds…. funny.

Do you think that you could squeeze just one more ad on it? ??
Sorry but the site is overrun with ads and seems to have little to do with the heading about real estate. Reminds me of junk mail, not gonna click.
Sorry to be blunt but that is how I see it.

To eliminate the theme as a problem you should remove the theme’s directory (you have a backup copy…). This will force WP to use the default theme. If that fixes the problem then you can try to fix the theme or use a different one.

Go to your theme directory and open each .php file. Go to the bottom and make sure that it ends with a ?> and *nothing* else.
You likely have a carriage return or space after the final ?>

We don’t know which one you mean but you could simply put a fresh one back from the same WP download you used to put it there in the first place.

I like it. Normally I won’t spend more than a few seconds on black themed sites since it is always hard to read and navigate. But yours isn’t bad. But, it *is* hard to read.

Suggestions would be to get more contrast in the text so old folks like me can read it. And you might want to loose the WP version text, it isn’t needed and it can invite the wrong folks that look for specific versions.

And, funny that you have the word “butter”, I use the word as well on mine. ??

Once a file is uploaded it is then living on the server, so it could be then used to “run” on the server, in the context of whatever user runs the web server services.

How would that file “run”? It isn’t an attachment to a crappy email app or some desktop application that could be fooled into running it. unless the file is fed into a process that could execute a file under *any* circumstances it isn’t going to happen. The danger is posting the file that could be malicious and that danger is to the downloader not the server. You have to attack the server which could happen without any posting rights or even having WP at all.

My fear would be a cheap owner that thinks a one time payment buys perfection forever.

I don’t see how a file waiting in moderation would ‘tear’ through a site before it gets moderated. It isn’t any more active than the message. If the file can’t be linked or run until after moderation you are safe. However I would use a good anti virus that ideally scans the file upon upload but at least scanned before posting. This would require some control or access at the server so that the appropriate scripts can be accessed. Best setup is your own server, dedicated server, or full control virtual machine. A Linux server can do all this and more without any fancy GUIs.

So he wants to pay for the site but not for the daily upkeep? Even his car needs maintenance if it is to remain safe. He should budget for human moderation, it can’t be totally automated.

As for plugins I can’t help much there but am confident that WP can do the job with the right planning.

IcelandDream, read closely the entire “help” I got ….

um, no. I’m not here to analyze and judge.

    bye bye.
