  • Again can’t edit above – so having to add yet another reply.

It would seem my choice of theme Alexis which I have used for years and loved the look – is what broke websites.

Now I have a crappy looking website that works. Have no time or want to play with child themes tweaking code etc.

Can’t edit comment above = strike 1 up 1 down. Both websites offline. Although only VPS showing the 403 error. Obviously I was getting cached version in browser for site I thought was still live.

Everything worked smooth until update = so I’d assume there is something there causing end user issues.

It’s not a plugin – it’s the update. But for some reason only us non experts seem to be running into issues.

Updated to 4.6 through Admin Interface – have one site that is now blank. One running fine.

Neither are allowing login through Admin now. Others are slowly posting have similar issues after update to 4.6

I can’t offer a solution. But I have 2 websites with same issue – one is no longer viewable after WordPress 4.6 “Pepper”. I got peppered all right.

I updated through WordPress interface. Haven’t had this issue in years. But not very happy right now.

Webhost is A Small Orange. One site is run on VPS other is just regular hosting.

    VPS site returns this error.

    Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access /wordpress/wp-admin/index.php on this server.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Other website just offers a blank page.

Never seen the above error with previous updates.

Not sure if you have seen this

Controlling CloudFlare Rocket Loader for WordPress

It really shouldn’t be this much hassle to use the product – but it would seem it is.

CloudFlare was made aware of this thread by me. I had hoped they would stop by and provide some input. Unfortunately looks like they have decided not to do so.

No because I missed that it had it’s own specific forum – see again – I have to spend hours hunting – then have to make sure I find the right forum – or I won’t get any help – just another wise ass comment.

Exactly why I stay out of forums – instead of just being helpful – it’s oh hey dumbass you missed this.

Excuse me after looking for a simple answer for over an hour I missed the proper forum. here is a thought link these proper forums in an easy to find place – like the main menu and maybe users will put in the proper place from now on!!

This is exactly why users don’t ask for help or give up. To much hassle and being told they didn’t do it right.

Screw it dear moderator – just delete the thread entirely – not worth the hassle!!

Placing this code https://pastebin.com/Wkzz09sD in Custom Code area didn’t kill the HTML tags and attributes. Even though that has worked for me in the past with Suffusion and it was suggested in the Pagelines forum as a solution.

Found part of my solution on my own since no one else seem to want to offer.

Using theme editor look for Platform: library.templates.php.

Look for code = Add the blog description for the home/front page. Above this area is where you can change how you wish article titles to be displayed on your site.

This thread in their paid forum got me headed in the right direction.

    https://www.pagelines.com/forum/discussion/12389/titles-dont-show-in-blog/p1

That easily solved my title issue after beating my head against a wall with no help for 6 days. Now I have to hunt down the solutions to my other issues mentioned above.

Crap the fix I put in place kills the main page title now. That isn’t good. Fix one thing then something else breaks = not cool. I’ll live with it this way for now.

Looks like I may have fixed this with a tweak of the code I removed.

Here is what I took out // Add the blog name. Correction nope that didn’t work – need to whack all the code. Crap.

Really wish they had a thumbs up option here. While other feedback was definitely worth the read. I think TourAbsurd put things as politely as they could possible be put. While I’ve gotten the theme to look basically the way I want I’m still struggling with a few basics and no one has offered any suggestions in my recent theme help posting.

I for one hope to see the day when coders and developers start understanding basic common sense, usability and drop the attitude that end users are a bunch of clueless morons. Guess that is why we have the insulting gamer term TourAbsurd decided to use in their post.

WordPress is supposed to about creating content NOT learning how to code. To bad the majority of the development community doesn’t seem to get that.

Are you seeing the bar when logged out and viewing your website? Your thumbnail is hosted on website that still uses popup ads and wouldn’t zoom in to blow the photo up for me when I selected option.

What I saw looked like the WordPress Admin bar ( new in Version 3.2.1 I think ) which you should be able to close out of and select to not ever see again.

The html code that would be used for this can be found here https://pastebin.com/JriamSzm Just add the URL of the photo, change description and then choose your own width height. Hope that helps.

Depending on your WordPress theme where to place this code to get the results you want may vary.

Unless you provide the website URL most people will just ignore this thread. What version of WordPress are you using? Which theme are you running? Do you have a lot of photos on the site? Have these been optimized for load time? Did you or have you made any changes to the cache plugin settings? Have you hassled with disabling any installed plugins 1 by 1 to see if their is a conflict with the combination of plugins being ran?

On main WP admin page you’ll see Suffusion. There should be the option for settings – click it. Under Theme Options Visual Effects is where I think you should find what your looking for. Since I no longer run the theme I can’t 100% confirm what I’ve stated.

Unfortunately I just uninstalled this theme for reasons I won’t cover here. So I can’t give you specific instructions. But I’m thinking everything your wanting to do is included with the preset options. From your main WP admin page you should see theme name and a link to settings. Explore this area = which can be time consuming – for what your wanting to change. If you would have had this issue just a week sooner I could have been more helpful sorry.

The official forum can be less than a pleasant experience in my opinion.

Are you using a caching plugin on your site? Depending on your settings when logged in this could be causing you to see a refresh issue.
