We have maybe about the same problem. Test page:
https://unterwindisch.ch/test-calendar/

All events are shown at the list ([events_list]) at the top, but almost none is ‘visible’ at the calendar ([events_calendar]) at the bottom. And they do also not show up in the calendar widget at the right.

Only the events with the green bar also marked with a green circle at the calendar. The other events are linked at the calendar but are not marked with a coloured circle.

The green bar that is displayed at [events_list] is also shown underneath the image at the detailed view…

I was not aware of this issue until recently. Comparing these events at the backend does not show any differences that do make any sense to me…

Any ideas?

For me it works for the first image, but still no pictures are displayed when ‘next’ / ‘previous’ buttons are clicked.
The behaviour is still as before.

Seems not to be compatible with WP 5.7 yet.
E.g. see https://unterwindisch.ch/archives/schlittelweg-dank-wintereinbruch –> just the first image is displayed. No further images are displayed, but you then can click on the empty ‘place holder’ to show it in the light-box.

Currently (as of 16th of March 2021) https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/nextgen-gallery/ states: “Compatible up to: 5.6.2” if called from within WP dashboard.
