Firstly…IT WORKS!!! Thanks so much for the help. You explained the problem and the solution and I appreciate the advice over firebug. It is rare to find people in the world that will take the time to check out a problem when there is nothing necessarily in it for themselves. I am looking at the code at the moment but cannot identify the area that will just affect the homepage. Could you point me to the right area. I am keen not to affect the rest of the site.
I can easily remove the sidebar in general but that solves the problem only to give me another.

Thanks for the help. I’ll have a go at edition both appropriately and let you know how it goes. If I limit my editing to the home page sidebars then it won’t affect the rest of the site?

The problem is still there despite my constant attempts to remove it. Any advice please?
