I assume you are referring to the “Firewall –> 404 Detection” Feature, right? But I still would have to manually click the “Temp Block” or “Blacklist IP” link for the applicable IP entry in the “404 Event Logs” table, am I correct? So no way to automatically temp block / blacklist an IP, if it tries to access yoursite.com/wp-admin or yoursite.com/wp-login?

Just a little follow-up from my side:

I just realized that maybe the wording of my original post wasn’t as precise as it should have been. Sorry …

What I had in mind was that I can link a table to an existing data source (e.g. excel file) so that the content of the excel file will be loaded on every page load. But in addition to simply loading the whole content of the excel file into the table, I also want to be able to display the content of (for example) cell B22 via shortcode – anywhere I please! Maybe even individual rows and / or columns!

Imagine an excel file with lots of different calculations in it, which sits on an FTP server and is updated regularly via an FTP client. And you are not interested in displaying all the different calculations in WordPress, but only their individual results (which are displayed in cell B22, C22 and so on, for example).

If you could achieve that with wpDataTables…WOW! Powerful!

thanks for getting back! I thought that by explicitly chosing “Upload only (Plupload)” as “File Uploader” under “Additional Field options”, I would dispense with the Media Library.

I don’t really see what benefits this would have, compared to the Auto Import Extension – except for not being subject to a 15 minutes delay.

That is one hell of a good argument why my suggestion is not really necessary ??
