I can’t be sure when this occurred exactly, but I do know that the largest slider was OK on 9th May (because I added a new image to the slider on that date and checked it). My client told me that something was wrong so I updated to Version 4.0.3 today in the hope that this was a bug that had been found and fixed.
The domain is bowralbowlingclub.com.au but I have commented out the sliders that aren’t displaying properly as it looks bad to leave them as they are. Trust me, the sliders width displays fine, but the height is truncated to about 100px.Fair point, Dave Naylor. Meanwhile I found an answer to my problem elsewhere and am happy to re-post it here for the benefit of others ..
“Everything was working great on my site until 2 am…I’ve spent the last 20 hours trying to figure this out and finally under settings for media, I noticed there was a / in front of the default upload folder. I got rid of the / and everything is working now.
Sorry I can’t be more technical than that, but I hope it works for all of you, too.”
Thank you, mdroamer.Thank you mdroamer, you’re a champ! Getting rid of that pesky slash made all the difference. Wish I had seen this before spending hours fiddling with permissions, dealing with hosting co, and re-installing a backup.
I am having the same issue (Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2014/08. Is its parent directory writable by the server?).
I didn’t have this issue when I installed and tested a couple of months ago. I have tried changing file permisssions but still can’t upload a simple jpg to a new post. What has changed?
This is my first experience with WP so would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
