Sorry mate, I’ve had it with your bloody BungeeBones. Whatever I do, with whatever version, I can’t get the plug-in to work. The instructions make things go round and round in circles (like following the instruction to download from your own site, and when that’s done the included readme instructs to download/install from the WordPress admin panel), and in a general sense they’re confusing as hell.

Following the instructions to the letter doesn’t work, following them in a kind of “creative way” doesn’t work, and I’m sick and tired of the whole thing. Although I appreciate the general idea behind BungeeBones, I think in it’s present state it’s just a pain in the arse.

    Be, nevertheless, well!

Sorry guys, I’ve been trying for two full days now, and there’s no way I can get this to work. Following the instructions leads to disaster, like the page name being treated as a folder or something like that, and/or the system entering an extra folder where one isn’t wanted… lots of things going wrong.

I’ve deleted the plugin. Pity – I’d very much like to have a BungeeBones directory on my site! But it can’t be done – at least not by me, having WP in the root, and using pretty permalinks.

If and when decent/correct instructions are in place, I may give it another try. But by now I’m bloody sick and tired of BungeeBones. Been gnawing too long on them, I guess.

    Be well!

    Hi Schepp!

Yes, I’m Dutch, living just to the west of you in my small country.

I’ll approach my host to activate the things you mention. I was already wondering about the “expires headers” stuff not having an effect.

I agree that the site will never be a speed world champion (wide grin)! But Adwords and Amazon and such are what it is all about, so I’ll just accept a bit of slowness. No problem.

Indeed, thanks to your plugin I gained a few points, and everything helps!

    Be well,

    Jaap.

Hi Schepp, thanks for updating the plugin, I think it’s a good improvement! I re-downloaded and re-installed it, and now I’m up from 75 to 76 – still not an enormous improvement, but at least there’s no damage done anymore.

Sure, I did the right thing with the .htaccess file from the beginning, so the issue can’t be there I guess. What it may be is that I always use the default setting for YSlow(V2) – when I use “Small sites and blogs” the score is 89. What setting are you referring to?

Thanks, uf Wied’lurgen, and be well!

    Jaap.

PS: Yes, I know it’s Schwyzerdütsch, but I like the sounds and spellings (wide grin)!

Sorry Schepp, I have deactivated the plug-in. It removes the “style” from all my pictures, destroying the lay-out. It didn’t do much speeding up either: from YSlow 73 to 75, which is not sufficient to make me go through all the trouble of redesigning my site.

Pity though: it was a good idea, and it probably still is a good idea for sites that don’t use the Flexibility2 (probably also the FlexSqueeze) theme.

    Be well!

    Hi Schepp!

Yes, that did the trick, thanks!

That was the good news, now the bad… The plug-in ignores the style in the “feature” and the “footer” widgets of my Flexibility2 theme. I kind of solved the problem by removing style, putting some transparant area on the side of the pictures where margin-right: 8px and such used to be, and using the old align=”left” tags and such. Looks alright in Firefox, but not so good in Chrome – although I can live with that.

You may want to have a look at

    • . The essence is, that the plug-in is probably not fully compatible with Flexibility2 theme.

      Danke sch?n, und auf Wied’schau’n!

      Jaap.
