Hello,
We have an update, albeit our findings remain uncertain.
So, 2.2.3.1 is in fact now running successfully with WP 4.0 on our site. My apologies for the post title! That said, we spent quite a bit of time testing & two of us saw WP 4.0 return 500 errors when AIOSEO was active & no errors when inactive. However, the primary issue turned out to be a Thesis issue! Once we applied the fix, all was well! That doesn’t explain however how we were able to upgrade to WP 4.0 w/o the Thesis fix when AIOSEO was disabled, but I digress, as it’s not worth trying to figure it out at this point. Perhaps some combination of plugins along with the WP update, who knows…
Anyway, thanks for the prompt reply here from AIO! Your service is another reason we have been faithful users! Wish I could alter my post title a bit & at least make my statement a question!
I second the new validation error…
<meta name=”description” itemprop=”description” content=”My meta description here”/>
I read some earlier posted threads & see that this is known by AIOSEO & it doesn’t appear that it will be remedied. Is this correct?
Thanks!

In reply to: [Really Simple Share] Plugin WAS Barely Functional…Since 3.7.1 I PresumeMy apologies!! I found the cause & it had absolutely nothing to do with the plugin! I simply overlooked the cause & jumped the gun with this post.
Again, sorry for the boneheaded post!

In reply to: [Really Simple Share] Validation ErrrorsHello,
You sure you got them all? Still getting some extra validation errors. I didn’t look too deeply, obviously, figured you’d need to know anyway! ?? See below, & there are many more errors pertaining to the same. I also get a lot of errors pertaining to Strict doc type, but not much we can do there considering my theme. Thanks.
Warning Line 140, Column 892: cannot generate system identifier for general entity “media”
?
An entity reference was found in the document, but there is no reference by that name defined. Often this is caused by misspelling the reference name, unencoded ampersands, or by leaving off the trailing semicolon (;). The most common cause of this error is unencoded ampersands in URLs as described by the WDG in “Ampersands in URLs”.
Entity references start with an ampersand (&) and end with a semicolon (;). If you want to use a literal ampersand in your document you must encode it as “&” (even inside URLs!). Be careful to end entity references with a semicolon or your entity reference may get interpreted in connection with the following text. Also keep in mind that named entity references are case-sensitive; &Aelig; and æ are different characters.
If this error appears in some markup generated by PHP’s session handling code, this article has explanations and solutions to your problem.
Note that in most documents, errors related to entity references will trigger up to 5 separate messages from the Validator. Usually these will all disappear when the original problem is fixed.

In reply to: [Print, PDF, Email by PrintFriendly] Validation ErrorsHello & ty for the reply. I am not permitted to reveal the sites in question w/o consulting w/ the sites owners, which will prove fruitless anyway. They’ll just want me to find another plugin alternative & code it myself. I have since deactivated until a fix is provided. The issue is on multiple sites, so I didn’t think you’d have a problem finding the source. If not, I understand.
Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful!

In reply to: [Social Sharing Toolkit] Linksalpha button…really? Now that I will no longer use the Social Sharing Toolkit, for the reasons already stated, I have since gone back to https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/really-simple-facebook-twitter-share-buttons/.
The dev is responsive & updates regularly & the plugin is solid without the added garbage.
I have tried countless social sharing plugins & for one reason or another, I always came back to Social Sharing Toolkit… until now! I have since deactivated it from all of my sites!
The other sharing plugin that I use is “Really simple Facebook Twitter share buttons”.
The dev is responsive & updates regularly & the plugin is solid without the added garbage that so many other social sharing plugins utilize to serve the devs interests. While I completely understand that we all deserve to be compensated for our work, I’d rather pay a few bucks per month yet have control over the plugin w/o all the tracking, etc. At least the dev should openly disclose such info. But I digress…
