Same thing for me on a new install. As soon as I upgraded to 3.7 I got that same error. Reinstalled WP ( 3.5 I think — via my hosts auto installer) and could search and add plugins. As soon as I upgraded to 3.7 again, got the same error.

I have not changed domains or hosts. After the malicious code problem, I did replace everything other than WP-content.

When I go to the media section I can click on “edit” and bring up the photo, but it does not show the thumbnails…and, of course, is not showing images anywhere.

All file and folder permissions are set to 755. Is that correct?
