I think this is what you’re asking, If you use FTP or whichever, right click on those files and click ‘properties’, then change permissions to 777.

I was playing around with it and now I get this message despite not even touching this file…

I’m posting so much because I didnt realize it takes long times to get replies here, not complaining but stating the truth when Im trying to work on my site right now. Is there any other support places?

It works now for other users but not for me. And the css design of it doesnt seem to be showing up right. When I go to the page, it says Im logged in as admin and only shows one box field to write in a message. However when I go to submit my comment, it takes me to a blank white page. I tried everything I can think of. I changed themes, I’ve re-uploaded original files, I’ve checked permissions and not sure what else to think about trying. Anyone got an idea?

I had to upload the comments-popup.php file from another theme so it would work, the comments-popup.php file in the default folder from 2.6.1 did not work on it’s own…. its bizarre… everyone has had this problem it seems.

You just have to upload the same file but from a different theme so it works. Sounds like it shouldnt make a difference but it does.

I have the same exact problem as this but I was always using default… so does that mean if I change themes it might work?

Other people with this problem, take note; Where you have to put your hostname, I entered the MySQL full length hostname url instead of just ‘localhost’ and it worked!!!

yeah, I admit that WordPress is a great program, by great.. I mean when it works without a glitch. LOL.

Yup, I am using the localhost and I think I uploaded the wp-config.php to right directory, its the main one outside of the folders, right?

I can try changing the database name to have the extra bit, with the underscore in it and see what that does.

Yup, I tried connecting directly to it using a code from my server and doing it that way with PHPMyAdmin, but it didnt change anything for some odd reason.

I am almost sure that this is a simple error (they usually are) with the connection details but I cant seem to find the problem..

I have this same problem. Seriously, wordpress is pissing me off majorly these days. First I HAD to upgrade, then all it is is fucking problems.. lol

I have the same problem however my wp-config.php details are correct as the database info… yet still refuses a connection. And yeah my server is running, the database is fine, but still weird with no connection… I posted about mine already but here the links…
