In reply to: [Plugin: AmR iCal Events List] List only current day eventsI happen to be needing the exact same functionality. I want to display the day’s events in the context of a multi day event, because I want a separate calendar for each day. Being able to limit this so events starting after midnight wouldn’t show up would be perfect.
In the meantime, I’ll try this work around. Thanks!
Must be an incompatibility with another plugin? (Usual response). I assume you’re using the latest version of WordPress on the blog that isn’t functioning?

In reply to: Fatal error after automatic upgradeI bet a plugin is interfering. Can you FTP in? If so, try temporarily moving all your plugins out of the plugins directory. (I created a directory called simply “temp” that I move plugins into when something goes so wrong I can’t even admin my site).
If that helps, start moving the plugins back one at a time, until you figure out which one is clashing.
HTH!

In reply to: Update unusableDo you have a website? Something with a name like https://www.yourdomain.com/? That would be step one.
If you don’t have a website yet, consider either using the WordPress website (https://www.wordpress.com?) to host your blog, or get webspace that is compatible with WP (that’s shorthand for “WordPress”).

In reply to: previous website –> WP 2.9 & a 404 page!Emazens…. Ummm…..
Do you know how to FTP? You might have to do a manual install. Alternately, you’ll want to consider downgrading back to 2.8. (I’m looking for the 2.8 download myself, as my favorite, most integral plugin isn’t working with 2.9).

In reply to: Hacked Blog and now can’t get inCan you FTP in? Also, can you get into the Database via MyAdmin or something like that? Backup the database, and restore it that way. Alternately, while you’re FTP’ing anyway, consider checking out the files that were modified in the first place, see if you can isolate them and either edit, remove, or at least verify their contents?

In reply to: Suggestions on a theme suitable for a law web siteMy absolute favorite theme is Atahualpa, but if you’re a noob, you might find it overwhelming: the level of customization possible is astounding!
Try the Web2Feel website for professional-looking themes with a business feel. I especially like the themes from the Diva Designs Geeks, who also have a Premium theme they sell (and you can try out) called WP Remix. Cehck out their showcase to get an idea of what it can do, and whether or not you need to be spending any money just yet.
Finally, just some food for thought: About.com’s guide pages are all powered by WordPress…. ?? Check out who else uses it, just for the fun of it.

In reply to: What are simple tags?Yeah, I actually fixed that bug this morning in my own install. Posted on the Theme author’s forum, as a matter of fact. Lemme know if you can’t find it, I’m up for a bit. ??

In reply to: WP 2.9 updateSame here, I upgraded without a thought, and discovered GYS Themed Categories breaks the editing functions on the backend. Probably because WP 2.9 is supposed to have a similar function (that I can’t find any documentation for).
grrrrr….!!!! First time I’ve had major probs with an upgrade, though.

In reply to: Media Library vs. FTP’d filesYeah but.. how? How did you fix it? I’m wondering the same thing, because it seems to me I’d done just that with WP 2.5, but it doesn’t work anymore?

In reply to: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class pclzipYes, actually, there is. Not sure how it works for plugins, though, as I hadn’t bothered deactivating it until now, but the core WP does have auto upgrade.

In reply to: [Plugin: Gengo] Known Incompatible PluginsHere’s another: Advanced Tagline makes Simple Tags throw this error:
Element.addClassName is not a function
[…]/wp-content/plugins/simple-tags/2.7/inc/js/bcomplete.js?ver=1.6.1
Line 40It’s not the first time I’ve found incompatibilities with Advanced Tagline and other plugins, I’ll have to contact them about that. GRRRR…
I’ll be using Tagline Rotator instead, I have yet to encounter a problem with that particular plugin.
