Well never mind, found out it’s not your version of Maintenance Mode, but another one that causes the problem. reported eslewhere.

I happen to be needing the exact same functionality. I want to display the day’s events in the context of a multi day event, because I want a separate calendar for each day. Being able to limit this so events starting after midnight wouldn’t show up would be perfect.

In the meantime, I’ll try this work around. Thanks!

Must be an incompatibility with another plugin? (Usual response). I assume you’re using the latest version of WordPress on the blog that isn’t functioning?

I bet a plugin is interfering. Can you FTP in? If so, try temporarily moving all your plugins out of the plugins directory. (I created a directory called simply “temp” that I move plugins into when something goes so wrong I can’t even admin my site).

If that helps, start moving the plugins back one at a time, until you figure out which one is clashing.

Do you have a website? Something with a name like https://www.yourdomain.com/? That would be step one.

If you don’t have a website yet, consider either using the WordPress website (https://www.wordpress.com?) to host your blog, or get webspace that is compatible with WP (that’s shorthand for “WordPress”).

Do you know how to FTP? You might have to do a manual install. Alternately, you’ll want to consider downgrading back to 2.8. (I’m looking for the 2.8 download myself, as my favorite, most integral plugin isn’t working with 2.9).

Can you FTP in? Also, can you get into the Database via MyAdmin or something like that? Backup the database, and restore it that way. Alternately, while you’re FTP’ing anyway, consider checking out the files that were modified in the first place, see if you can isolate them and either edit, remove, or at least verify their contents?

My absolute favorite theme is Atahualpa, but if you’re a noob, you might find it overwhelming: the level of customization possible is astounding!

Try the Web2Feel website for professional-looking themes with a business feel. I especially like the themes from the Diva Designs Geeks, who also have a Premium theme they sell (and you can try out) called WP Remix. Cehck out their showcase to get an idea of what it can do, and whether or not you need to be spending any money just yet.

Yeah, I actually fixed that bug this morning in my own install. Posted on the Theme author’s forum, as a matter of fact. Lemme know if you can’t find it, I’m up for a bit. ??

Same here, I upgraded without a thought, and discovered GYS Themed Categories breaks the editing functions on the backend. Probably because WP 2.9 is supposed to have a similar function (that I can’t find any documentation for).

Yes, actually, there is. Not sure how it works for plugins, though, as I hadn’t bothered deactivating it until now, but the core WP does have auto upgrade.

Here’s another: Advanced Tagline makes Simple Tags throw this error:

It’s not the first time I’ve found incompatibilities with Advanced Tagline and other plugins, I’ll have to contact them about that. GRRRR…
I’ll be using Tagline Rotator instead, I have yet to encounter a problem with that particular plugin.
