Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Website has disappearedOk, thanks. I didn’t realize I was in the wrong forum. Thank you, WPyogi, for helping me troubleshoot!
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Website has disappearedI looked at the comparison of the two versions, and am sure I have the .com version, as when I log in to .com, that is where all four of my sites are listed. So I am not sure why that Jetpack alert is listed next to the shaughnadkins.com site. I used a WordPress theme for the site, and it is just a blog that I modified to look more like a website. When I log in to my WordPress account, and try to go to the shaughnadkins site, across the top it is saying “Jetpack 3.3 is required to take full advantage of all post editing features. Update now.” When I click on Update Now, it goes to a blank page. When I click on WP Admin, that also goes to a blank page. When I click on View Site, it goes to the index page for youthsavingwolves.com, a website I have hosted at fatcow.com. Fatcow.com is also the hosting site where I paid for the custom URL, shaughnadkins.com. Not sure where I can go from here. I just want to get back to the WP Admin page, so I can modify the blog post that was serving as the Shaughnadkins website.

In reply to: Website has disappearedThe site is on WordPress.COM. I must be hosting it on Fatcow.com, the site that I renew the domain name through. I thought it was being hosted on WordPress, because I do not have an index file for it on my hard drive. I only have a few illustrations that I uploaded to the WordPress blog as I was creating the site. I would just modify the original blog post, and did not ftp an index file each time.

In reply to: Website has disappearedI did not delete the site. I just logged in to my WordPress account, pulled up the list of my sites, and next to the Shaughnadkins site, was a notification that Jetpack 3.3 needs to be installed. Maybe this is why the site is not showing up? When I click on the “update now” link, it takes to me a blank white page, at: https://www.shaughnadkins.com/wp-admin/plugins.php?plugin_status=upgrade

In reply to: Website has disappearedCome to think of it, it was a “blog” website, so we just kept modifying the original blog post, and that served as the “index file.” Does WordPress delete blog posts that a certain number of months old?

In reply to: Website has disappearedI changed them to ns1.wordpress.com and ns2.wordpress.com. Is that correct?

In reply to: Website has disappearedOnly the domain name is on Fatcow. I thought it was hosted at wordpress.com, but somehow the nameservers must have been changed without my intent or knowledge. What nameservers should I put in to point the site back to WordPress.com?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Website has disappearedBoth websites are mine. The nameservers must have accidentally been moved to fatcow.com. I renew the domain name through Fatcow, but the index file is with WordPress, so that is probably why the wolf site is showing up: no index file. How can I re-set the nameservers back to WordPress?

In reply to: Website has disappearedThe website in question is https://www.shaughnadkins.com/, which is an angel healing business. When you go there, you see content for https://youthsavingwolves.com/, a youth art project for saving wolves. The youth saving wolves website is actually hosted at fatcow.com, so I don’t know how the files for that website ended up on WordPress.

In reply to: [Thistle] How can I edit the left-hand column?I noticed that by changing the background color of the sidebar, that its rounded corners have been replaced by square corners. How can I put the rounded corners back in?

In reply to: [Thistle] How can I edit the left-hand column?I figured out how to change the sidebar color by modifying the stylesheet.css file. Still hoping someone can tell how to get rid of the left-hand column that has the little calendar picture at the top of it.
Thank you!

In reply to: [Thistle] How can I edit the left-hand column? How can I change the background color of the sidebar? THANKS!
WPyogi, it worked! I installed a new theme, switched to that one, and then deleted Simple Catch theme. I like the new one, so may stay with it, rather than revert to Simple Catch. Thank you, everyone who chimed in with helpful advice!!!
One more question: To delete the old theme, should I just delete it from Windows Explorer, or is there a better method? Thank you.
There are two other themes installed right now. So to switch themes, I just change the designation in my dashboard? Thanks Latka!
