thanks for the help, i’ve just checked my database user, it did not seem to have full admin privilages to th database, that appeared to be the issue!

hey thanks kmessinger, its only moved in the past few hours so yes that could be it.

I thought propagation effects the whole site, no just certain pages?

I dealt with another site with very slow propagation issues last week and the site was either working or not working.

This seems to be different, the homepage is perfect, all secondary pages are inactive.

I came across this thread (and solution) by ‘DavidBorrink’ and it seemed to work for me, however the slideshow doesn’t seem to be working in IE7 now… ??

alas it works perfectly in IE8 & IE9!

it was of course my own fault!
there was an error in the size of the link area in my CSS.
