It looks like both of those themes are responsive. I’m going to guess that your desktop theme is just properly responding to the smaller screen size and using CSS media queries in the theme to make it look nice on mobile.

Are you 100% sure that the <= 1280×1024 size is showing the ‘Handheld Theme’ you’ve set in ‘Appearance > Device Themes’? Or is it displaying your default responsive theme activated in ‘Appearance > Themes’?

We use the MobileESP library for User Agent detection. You can obtain a list of the User Agent strings it checks against here in Excel format.

Cloudflare most likely will only cache the desktop theme assets (as they’ll never trigger** the handheld/tablet themes to activate)

**Yes, this plugin detects the User Agent string provided by the user’s browser. This is how we determine if the mobile/tablet theme should be displayed.

You’ll need to temporarily activate your mobile theme to set those settings.

Anything like theme color changes need to be made to the theme, often to the theme CSS code. A lot of times you can ask the author of the theme how to make a specific change.

For anyone stumbling across this thread. This issue only occurred for users with PHP < 5.3. Please update to the latest version of this plugin to correct the issue. Thanks!

StonePilot, any chance you could email the page source from Appearance > Device Themes, and a zip file of your theme?

While viewing the page in your browser, right click anywhere on the page and “View Source” and copy/paste alllllll that into an email.

If you have not yet removed the broken plugin, please replace your directory: /wp-content/plugins/device-theme-switcher/ with this one: https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/device-theme-switcher.2.9.2.zip

In the meantime, if you would like to downgrade back to version 2.8, you can do so by replacing your directory: /wp-content/plugins/device-theme-switcher/ with this one: https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/device-theme-switcher.2.8.zip
