OK, I checked again in several browsers:

My widget slideshow (right below on page https://bijc.nl ) stays frozen in Microsoft-IE11 and in Microsoft-Edge. Clicking on one of the dots gives another picture but then it freezes again. In the past it sometimes started after a reload (F5 or Ctrl-F5).
I tested this on two different W10 computers with similar outcomes.
Normal slideshows in IE11 and Edge sometimes also fail to auto-start, in that case they start after clicking NEXT. So it is not quite reproducible.
My Microsoft Edge version is: 42.17134.1.0.

On same computer in other browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Avast and Safari) it auto-starts fine. So this seems a pure Microsoft problem.

    best regards and success,

Thanks, works OK! (I had to check appr. 20 other normal slideshows, but OK!).

For your info: Now in the Microsoft Edge browser the widget slideshow fails to start automatically, sometimes it starts after a reload (F5). Normal slideshows do fine.
I do not see this problem in other browsers.

    Thank you!!

Yes I’m struggling with exactly the same.
I can add that if, during the faulty slide show, you click on the NEXT button, then a correct picture shows up, but then when the auto-play goes further it is showing again pictures of the wrong gallery.

    Success in solving this!

The communication seem to be restored again and UpdraftPlus works again, backup is made within three minutes. It is uploaded to Googledrive in five steps, so I assume it is about 5 x 500 MB = 2.5GB.

The provider denies that there has been any problem.

The only thing that remains that UpdraftPlus produces some (five) zip errors: “The attempt to close the zip file returned an error (Unknown: ZipArchive does not return error messages)”, this occured also before the problems of last weekend.

    David,
    Thanks for your response!
I parsed the expert section but I have not found any message suggesting that the updraft directory is not writable.

But it seems your suggestion is very close to the problem, because now I also experienced problems with uploading a document to the server. Several times it seemed successful but then this document on the server appeared to be corrupted! Same when trying this with FTP (FileZilla). Later today I managed once to upload a document successfully.

However backing up with UpdraftPlus, (much larger files involved), still results in a bunch of zip-errors, sometimes the process stocks, sometimes it ends saying Backup Successfully but with errors which is not confidence inspiring.

So the problem seems to be a lack of proper communication with the server!

Do you want me to send you the UpdraftPlus log file? If yes, how can I mail you this?
    Regards,
    Jan Adriaansen
