I’ve tested a few sites with the same results, this is a bug.

Can you confirm what versions of WordPress and Yoast SEO for WordPress you are using?

Does this issue only occur on mobile when using Android and Google Chrome but works on desktop?

That sounds like a plugin or theme conflict. Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:

I have disabled all plugins and switched to twentynineteen theme, it still happens.

Make sure the issue doesn’t persist when Yoast SEO is disabled.

The Meta Description is not there when Yoast is disabled

Check for JavaScript errors with your console.

I don’t have this on android but there are no errors in js console on desktop.

UPDATE! What I’ve noticed is that if make a typo it will add the corrected word but will delete the correctly spelt words. For example, I typed in sart, it corrected to start and stayed, but when I typed start – it deleted it instantly

Thanks for getting back to me, yes I used the ticker for about 3 years now, the alpha vantage is new to me but I did register the api as you have documented.

I’ve detailed some settings below, as you can see the symbols above are ignored.

The host is Webcore, it’s pretty standard plesk based shared hosting with php 5.4, My SQL5.5.

Disabling all plugins made no difference.

The issue is that something is missing from the widget, it won’t work on it’s own but will if the short code is used somewhere on the page.

My work around was to include the shortcode on the page but hidden. Now everything is normal… at least in appearance.

There were a few warnings but disabling the related plugins didn’t fix this issue.

We have decided not to go this route as it would mean moving control out of widgets, this would mean you would not be able to have lots on instances in lots of places.
