In reply to: [Bold Headline] Widges absent in mobile versionHey, great! Thanks. Another reason to debate whether to keep jetpack…

In reply to: [Bold Headline] Widges absent in mobile versionI assume you mean URL. It’s this one: https://givemestrength.net.
iPhone 4s can be upgraded to iOS 7, but I haven’t done it because of what I’ve read about it running at least somewhat slowly on the 4s.

In reply to: [Bold Headline] Widges absent in mobile versionThanks for the quick response. I was expecting to see the widgets stacked but see none from Bold Headline on my phone (even though it does show widgets from other themes).
Since getting your response, I tried an online emulator for assorted mobile devices, and my site’s widgets with Bold Headline seem to do fine on all of them. My phone, an iPhone 4s with iOS 6, evidently doesn’t interpret the code adequately due, presumably, to the older OS. Darn.
So, I think it would be nice if the widgets appeared on recent (but not newest) OS, as I’m sure many people don’t install every new OS version, but I guess I can’t expect you to manage that.
Thanks again for your response.

In reply to: [Decode] Text not wrapping around imageDon’t know about the social media business, but I found a workaround re image/text wrapping: put the heading after the image. Doesn’t make sense, but it seems to work. (I have another image problem I’m going to try to find info about but if I don’t fine it I’ll post.)

In reply to: [Virtue] Theme options unavailableKadence Themes: Alas, I’m not sure. Originally installed at first of February, so I don’t think it should be far out of date? Using WP 3.9.
pawcioss: Ugh. Hate to fiddle with wp-config. Would the additions potentially mess things up if I decide to change themes?

In reply to: media uploader/ edit window mismatchI just realized also that if you click Add New under Media in the left menu bar, you get the previous media uploader version. Does it do something different? Or is it only for adding media directly to the library, as opposed to adding to a post?
Hey, phpwalter & yani:
I came up with a partial solution that may be helpful for other people: Create a calendar in Google for each category, then import each feed and associate it with a category in the import settings. Net result is able to use Google options and still retain category settings.Neira,
Could you address Diana’s question about categories, or clarify if that’s what you are talking about when you talk about the feed refreshing.
Speaking of which, could you clarify what you mean by “instances are flushed and replaced with new instances”? Do you mean that if I have events imported from an .ics calendar and add categories to them via the WP interface that those categories will be removed when the .ics refreshes? If so, is there a way to set the categories in a Google calendar as is somewhat implied in the description of the plugin?
Thanks for your help!

In reply to: No Long Receiving Comments by EmailI finally checked with my host about this issue, and here’s their response:
When clients move their WordPress 2.3.1 installations to us (or upgrade to 2.3.1), they may find that the usual emails they receive when users comment on posts stop being received. To resolve this issue, they must…
1. Create a wordpress email account . i.e. [email protected]
2. Install the WordPress Plugin called Comments Notifier. If that doesn’t work, remove the following line in wp-includes/pluggable.php which was added in WP 2.3.1:
228 $phpmailer->Sender = apply_filters( ‘wp_mail_from’, $from_email );
I gather that the first option is what whooami is talking about, with the plugin mentioned equating to whooami’s mention of a forwarder. Is that right?
In any case, of the two options mentioned by my host, is one option preferrable to the other? I’m worried about “breaking” something else!

In reply to: Version 2.3.2 is availableSince I can’t make sense of the list of files revised, could you tell us whether this revision fixes the problem that developed with 2.3.1 that broke the email notification of comments for lots of people?

In reply to: Incomplete email notifications with 2.3.1Well, heck. I was excited when I saw the heading and the issue resolved. I don’t use the OpenID plugin, so I guess I’ll keep hunting…

In reply to: SQL tab in MyPHPadmin not like examplesThanks, Michael. It’s all confusing, as the directions I find never seem to be of exactly the same versions of things as what I’m working with. I attemped xampp, too, but got confused there as well.
As you say, I think my databases are there, but WordPress doesn’t seem to see them. I’m obviously doing something wrong here. My suspicion is that I have them in the wrong folder.
Anyway, I appreciate your help. I’ll review your suggestions again tomorrow when I’m fresh, and if they don’t help, I’m just going to go ahead and fiddle without using the databases I downloaded from my site. The local installation seems able to add posts etc. to wherever it’s storing things, so I should be able to work on the theme one way or the other.
Thanks again.
