Thank you so much for spending the time to look at it – I have stumbled onto the answer. A javascript call in a sidebar widget seemed to be causing the error. Once I removed the offending widget, Flexslider worked again! So if anyone strikes this issue, I’d recommend disabling your widgets as well and reintroducing them one at a time to find the issue.

Actually – I got it wrong – it was combining Eamondaly’s fix with deselecting “Expand recurring events?” to make at least non-recurring classes appear.

Just starting to look at this again. I tried Eamondaly’s fix, but no joy. However, out of curiosity, I deselected “Expand recurring Events?” and the plugin loads the non-recurring classes. So for some reason, GCE seems to be having trouble reading the recurring events. Curious.

Yes, the calendar is shared with me and several of the teachers. I checked and it’s public. Yes, I copied the link the same way for both calendars. When I click on both links I see the XML code, but only the second one works in GCE.

I don’t know whether it’s a business Google account. How would I find that out?

I tried to install version 2.0.5 last night. I tried recreating the feeds, clearing the cache, and still the same issue. I don’t understand why it works for one feed, but not the other. I tried displaying the feed using the grid and it doesn’t work either. The only difference I can see is the one that is not working has a different type of address: https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/harmonyyogaduncan%40gmail.com/public/basic

compared to the one that does work:
https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/vbnmnd2s8699pmbao3faer1t5k%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic

Is that relevant?

Thanks Nick – I appreciate your efforts.

My client has a Google calendar filled with recurring events (i.e. yoga classes), so even if the calendar was requesting for a day ahead, it should have fetched something.

Right – no start offset. I will try to do the “1 day back” tonight after they’ve closed up for the day. I tried using grid, list and group list views and no joy.

I rolled back to version 0.7.3.1, so I’m upgrading from that to 2.0.4.

Re: the time zone issue – I was made aware of it after my first failed upgrade attempt on 2.0.1, so I don’t know if it had happened before and I just hadn’t noticed. We are in Pacific Standard Time (GMT-7). The WP installation and calendars are both set for Vancouver. At 5pm, the calendar rolled forward to the next day. It had tomorrow’s date, but a new customer looking at the schedule saw the time for the next evening’s class and turned up for it a day ahead. Ouch! I have set the old plugin to start fetching from -14400 secs to +86400 secs, so it shows today’s evening class today. The weird thing is, it doesn’t seem to get rid of the previous evening’s class until the next morning. So I don’t know why in some ways it behaves like the time zone setting is correct and in others it’s not. It’s a mystery!

I’m afraid I have to revert it to the old plugin now, but this is what the page source looked like for the calendar that said “No events to display.”

Hi Nick,

It’s night so I don’t know if you’re awake in your time zone :), but I turned off all other plugins, configured GCE 2.0.4, and I’m still not getting the feed for today’s classes. They show with the old version of the plugin (apart from a pesky time zone issue):

I will try to leave it as is tonight, but I’ll have to revert to the old plugin very early to make sure everyone knows what’s on tomorrow. ??

Hi Nick,

I saw that and was excited to try it. I tried first thing this morning and the entire sidebar disappeared after the widget titles. I deactivated some non-essential plugins (I only have 4 now) and today’s classes were still blank, although the second events feed came back and worked.

I will try tonight after the business closes to turn off all plugins and see if there is an interaction that is stopping it from working. I’ll get back to you.

I reverted to the old version, but with the new version I was:
– Using the event builder.
– Cleared the cache for the feeds.
– Only use the widget, so didn’t need to use a shortcode.

Now the old version is displaying time zone problems (changing seven hours early and I am GMT-7hrs), so I’ll try to upgrade to the latest version again and see if it’s fixed.
