You need to upload the theme ZIP file itself. The ZIP file you uploaded is the entire package you get from ThemeForest which also contains any documentation, PSDs, etc. that the author included.

Themes have a style.css file which contains information about the theme for WordPress to read, which is also used in the theme itself, so it’s viewable by people who know where to look, such as web developers.

Thanks for the suggestion, however I’d like to keep the feature set of this plugin in line with the feature set WordPress 3.5 will have around Favorites. So this isn’t something I’m planning to add in.

If enough people requested something, I might consider it, because then it might also make it into the next release of WordPress.
