    Thanks again, Bryle

Do the old directories that are replaced during restoration include

    • Plugins,
    • Menus,
    • Pages,
    • Categories (of forums),
    • Forums,
    • Topics,
    • Replies, and/or
    • Users?

If so, do they include anything else? If not, what type(s) of thing(s) do they include?

Is that the “Upload backup files” link that you were talking about?

What, if anything, might I lose by clicking the “Delete old directories” button?

    Thank you, corrinarusso

    I wrote

I think it would take too long to explain why (I think) I can’t use a right sidebar widget

because I don’t know if I can use ProfileGrid’s Login Logout Menu extension with a widget.

Instead of being a ProfileGrid problem, I’m curious if this problem can be a WordPress problem.

Still, to find out if it can be a ProfileGrid problem, I made a topic at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/integration-with-the-feature-filter/.

    Thank you.

If my posts are still too verbose, please let me know and I can start looking for an editor.

I’m not trying to create an exhaustive list of “Login Logout Menu extension” placements. Rather, I’m trying to point out (what I think are) two contradictions that I ran into while trying to use the Login Logout Menu extension in a certain place. I’m frustrated because I don’t know if those contradictions come from my skill level (which I might need to improve) or the extension.

In order to understand those contradictions, it might be necessary to know how I navigate the table that the first of the above links goes to. In order to navigate the table, please know that where it says “Name of theme tested” (which is where, inside the table, it is as far to the top as possible, and as far to the left as possible) is the first row of the first column (not row zero of column zero). If there were no contradictions in the table, in the fourth column, the second row through the last row would be empty. Please let me know if it is not obvious why. If there wasn’t a second contradiction, (in column six) there would be a “Yes” in each row that there is a “Yes” in the same row in column five, after using the Feature Filter. However, maybe I shouldn’t assume that it is supposed to be that interconnected. Additionally, by making column two, I was trying to show that I don’t understand why I was only able to get the primary menu (and not able to get the menus in column four) to show, when using the first five themes in the table.

I’ve also been trying to tell how much my effort to use the Right Sidebar involves the aesthetical, which people at this support forum aren’t supposed to help with. I think that it might not only be about the aesthetical because of some of the options on part of the page (at Dashboard >> Appearance >> Themes >> Add New >> Feature Filter) that the following link goes to a picture of.

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iIVGxUZvd89FElU0S-48NoG0ZjLhENQ5/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=102420801851138330130&rtpof=true&sd=true

For example, two themes that both have only one Right Sidebar option might be thought of as having something in common with each other. On the other hand, if one theme only has a Right Sidebar, and another theme only has a Left Sidebar, those two themes might be thought of as being (for lack of a better word) “opposite” of each other, in a way. And, once I can start using words like “in common” and “opposite”, I feel like I am writing about something that is at least partly beyond the aesthetical. Though, I know it is my responsibility to find a theme that has the menu location that I am looking for. Still, I think it might be better if I can make those contradictions (whether or not they only exist in my mind) disappear.

In conclusion, I was looking for a systematic way to find out what the menu options are with different themes, and what I found to make columns four and five made me hopeful that there is a systematic way to do that, without knowing where to continue looking. It would be great if I could get the other named menus to show like the primary menu shows. Please let me know if I should repeat the two places where they are named, because where they are named makes me think that the extension can be used where those menus are. If I can get the extension to work by clicking on those menus (in addition to the Primary Menu), then I think it would be worthwhile to look for a theme that makes the menu I am looking for (which is the Right Sidebar menu) named.

    Thank you.

    Thanks, Bryle.

In addition to Dashboard, UpdraftPlus put files into Google Drive. Is there a way to restore my site with UpdraftPlus files that I put on a thumb drive (and are from Google Drive), without losing other UpdraftPlus files that are stored in Dashboard? Again, I don’t know how to get to Dashboard now, with the critical error.

    Thanks.

I can’t use the new computer for long enough because it is a library’s computer. Thanks.

Why did it work with a new computer, but not the old one? When I click on install, using the old computer, the button changes its appearance, so it gets signals with the old one. Thank you.

I’m thankful for the instructions t-p gave me. After following those instructions, next to each plugin name, there is an “Enable while troubleshooting” message. Still, before enabling any of those plugins, I tried again to install themes, but wasn’t able to install any. Thank you.

Because of where I want to use ProfileGrid’s Login Logout Menu extension, I am going to have to test a lot of different themes. I’m sorry if there is a better word besides broken, but this seems pretty serious to me, considering how much testing I have to do, and that I don’t consider myself a computer person. If my site is broken, am I going to have to test all the themes with a broken site? I thought I made a backup of my site with a previous version of WordPress, but (when I restored it) the latest version (version 5.8) was used. Also, when I tried to restore it again, I got a disturbing message that my file “was found, but has a different size (36994400) from what was expected (34897247) – it may be corrupt”. Is the best way to try to fix the site to deactivate all the plugins? If I deactivate the bbPress and bbp style pack plugins, will I lose my forum, and lose the forum’s style? Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I’m sorry for asking the same question twice. I tried (possibly incorrectly) to test all the menus, except the Logged In Account Menu (because I don’t know how to test the Logged In Account Menu). The Primary Menu was the only one that I was able to get to work. So, incorrectly, I thought the other menus (which I couldn’t figure out how to use) might be for different themes besides the Astra WordPress Theme (which is the theme that I was using at the time, and that I am still using). If that were the case, as far as I could tell at the time, the menus shown wouldn’t only be a theme’s (in this case, Astra’s) menu locations, but also the menu locations of one or more different themes. Now I understand that I was wrong, though I gave that explanation of why I repeated the question (because I couldn’t get it to work). At that time, I got so confused that I asked for help again, with a question that it appears was already answered, with an answer and an explanation of that answer. Again, I’m sorry you had to repeat the answer for me. I’m still confused about how it works, because I couldn’t figure out how to use those menus (which are named in the picture that the previous link, of the above two links, goes to), which are (1) the Secondary Menu, (2) the Off-Canvas Menu, and (3) the Footer Menu. Do I need to do more than just put check marks in the checkboxes to use those three menus? With the check marks saved, I looked all over the page repeatedly, and couldn’t find those three menus.

    That was so helpful.

If I’m not sure what to do with that code, what is the easiest way to make it so I stop seeing “You are currently logged in as [email protected]. View Profile | Account settings | Logout ?”? Thank you.

Thank you, bcworkz, for all the work you put into your last post.

I still have some homework to do, so I can learn about cookies and caches.

In the meantime, would you please confirm that I only need to worry if the user who logged in is the last user to log out, and I don’t need to worry if a different user was the last user to log out? Or, do I need to worry about that too?

Also, thanks for showing confidence in my ability to make custom code.

Still, if there are very simple plugins (that are already made) that can do what you have been describing, how can I compare those plugins (which are already made) with each other?

I made it sound like users can get to other users’ items, but maybe that isn’t always the case.
