    Just did the manual update, everything seems to be working fine now. No error messages coming up in the dashboard. Thanks for your advice.

    I have an old backup but nothing recent. I haven’t made any major changes to the site for a while.

    Would it be worth doing a manual update to the latest version of wordpress?

    Thanks, I’ll give it a try

    Hi,

    Did you end up solving this problem?

    I’ve found an old back up of the files. I haven’t been changing much content recently so it could help.

    It’s a SQL file. How do I check the permissions without loading it into the ftp? I’ve never had to deal with a problem like this before.

    Hi Steve,

    My host said that they cannot help me with this problem. I deactivated all the plugins and that didn’t seem to solve the problem and an error message is still present. I did backup my website using phpmyadmin before all of this but I don’t want to restore unless it would be a 100% success. My only other option is to find a wordpress developer in my local area that could help. Do you have any other suggestions?

    My host is now looking into it. One last question, I did a backup before I attempted to change the permissions, would restoring things put the file permissions back to the original settings?

    Hi Steve,

    I tried again and the 755 seemed to work for the folders but when I did the 644 for the file permissions the following error appeared at the bottom of the screen when I’m in the webftp. I also still have previous error preventing me from accessing the dashboard. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

    ftp_chmod()[function.ftp-chmod]: SITE CHMOD command failed. in /websites/cl/cloudwebtools.com.au/webftp/plugins/access.ftp/class.ftpAccesswrapper.php

    Hi Steve,

    I was using a webftp and changed the permissions to ensure they are either 644 or 755. I must have accidently made an error as the following messages now appear when I try to access the dashboard of my website. Thanks.

    Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined method WP_Error::has_errors() in /websites/in/………../wordpress/wp-admin/includes/file.php:1766 Stack trace: #0 /websites/in/………../wordpress/wp-content/plugins/accelerated-mobile-pages/includes/options/redux-core/inc/class.redux_filesystem.php(90): WP_Filesystem(true) #1 /websites/in/………/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/accelerated-mobile-pages/includes/options/redux-core/inc/class.redux_filesystem.php(140): ReduxCore\ReduxFramework\Redux_Filesystem->filesystem_init(‘admin.php?page=…’, ‘direct’, ‘/websites/in/in…’) #2 /websites/in/………./wordpress/wp-content/plugins/accelerated-mobile-pages/includes/options/redux-core/inc/class.redux_helpers.php(672): ReduxCore\ReduxFramework\Redux_Filesystem->execute(‘get_contents’, ‘/websites/in/in…’) #3 /websites/in/……../wordpress/wp-content/plugins/accelerated-mobile-pages/includes/options/redux-core/inc/class.redux_api.php(627): ReduxCore\ReduxFramework\Redux_Helpers::get in /websites/in/………/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 1766`

    Hi Steve,

    My host hasn’t been too much help and they just told me find a wordpress developer to fix the problem. Is it just a matter of manually checking each file and directory to see if they are 644 or 755? I’ve never had this problem before so I’m not sure how it has happened.

    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply. I’m not an expert on wordpress so I’ll contact my host and see if they can assist.

    Hi,

    I added this to the CSS and it has disappearing problem.

    .main-navigation ul li ul {
    position: absolute;
    background-color: #fff;
    top: 42px;
    left: 0;
    width: 200px;
    padding-top: 20px;

    I was thinking of changing the menu items to lower case letters or reducing the number of header items.

    Thanks for your advice.

    Hi,

    I changed it in the Stylesheet (style.css) in wordpress and it didn’t work.

    I have just now cut and paste it into the custom CSS and now it is working properly again.

    I’m not sure why?

    Thanks,

    Jasyn
