When you select the page (homepage or what is static linked for my homepage being “News in Indian Country” ) from Pages in the Dashboard, on the right side of the edit page under the Template, you can select Sidebar Template from the dropdown menu. And like I said, if I select left sidebar in the Theme Options screen, I can get a left sidebar with my page but it over extends onto my body content of the page. I will change it to the left sidebar now so you can see it does work for the left but now not for the right.

You can close this as I have someone else working on restoration of the columns as an issue by itself. Thanks very much for your help. Relieved me greatly!

Worked. One problem. I have columns on https://roundhousetalk.com (homepage) and the columns language inserts appears correctly when I pull up the page in the editor, but when I go to the homepage on the web, it’s not in columns. I used Column-Matic plugin which I deactivated and the activated and still no change. Any suggestions?

Could I unpack it in my pc folder, then take the functions.php file and upload just that file to (where) the web server under my website on the web? Would that work so that I don’t lose all of the work (plugins, pages, post, etc.)?

But since I did, how can I fix it? I only inserted it because the plugin instructions said to use the functions.php. How can I resolve this? Thanks.

I guess the page name is “News All Across Indian Country.” Guess if it looks ok, the entire page could be column format starting after the slider at the top. I would want the intro description which is before the slider left out of a column if possible. Thanks.

I placed this in the css and the column class for 1 and then 2 into the page HTML.

I am having a different problem. I can’t get it to create 2 columns and the sidebar. It stays 1 column and a sidebar from the twenty eleven theme. I want to create a newspaper column look at https://roundhousetalk.com and maybe I am putting the css code and the page code in the wrong place. Any suggestions? I posted before but no answer so thought I would try here.

I am having an issue where I placed the column code into my homepage HTML but get no change. I put the start column where I wanted it to start on the page and the end at the end of the page, but nothing happened. Ok. Thanks. Do you know a plugin that might? I hate to purchase a theme and then find out it would do what I want. So I was hoping I could find a plugin for my twenty eleven theme. It looks like the twenty twelve may, but I hate to chance the migration it becomes a problem. Any ideas?

I installed and activated the plugin, but how do you make your homepage have columns? I currently use twenty eleven theme and use a sidebar which I want to maintain, but convert the other frame into 2 columns like a newspaper format. I’m a newbie so I need specific steps and where to place code if necessary. Thanks.

I downloaded the plugin and activated it. I read all I could to implement the columns in my homepage, but can’t figure out how to make it work on my homepage at https://roundhousetalk.com How do you get your homepage to make 2 columns? I have a sidebar format already and want to keep that as I use several widgets I like. So I guess I want my homepage to have 2 columns plus the sidebar. I’m new so please be specific in what code, if any, to add and where (file and within the code).

In your example, what does blah1, blah2 and blah3 mean? Do I change these blah to something else?
