Actually, I believe I’m finding increasing circumstantial evidence that it is WordPress that is stripping the tags… Some problem with xmlrpc… It’d be nice to have that confirmed, though.

    Thanks again…

Really, I don’t want to debate the merits of the two options… (It would take us down a dark corridor of whether I should even be using Safari or not…) The BBEdit ability in Mars Edit is an important thing for me, as I like having the GREP… And I like having custom tags. Switching to another client isn’t really realistic, since I’ve already paid for one.

Mostly, I just want to know if someone who is using Mars Edit 1.1 with WordPress 2.0 is experiencing these problems, and, if so, how they dealt with it.

I do appreciate your responses, I just need someone who has some experience with Mars Edit.

Fair enough… I like using a client so that I can compose drafts, spell check, format, etc. (Mars Edit’s ability to compose using BBEdit is another plus for me…)

Any Mars Edit users out there noticing this same behavior?

Thanks for the suggestion… But to no avail…

I can put in the custom tags in the web interface… They get lost in the upload process from Mars Edit. So I wind up posting, and then editing the post online. Not the happiest workflow I can imagine.

Again, thanks… I’ll keep trying things.

Follow-up… I thought this might be the fault of the WYSIWYG editor. But I turned it off and posted. The tags still don’t show up. So I’m still at a loss.

Sorry for this… I found a solution in the following thread: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/9698.

Okay… I followed this advice… I deleted the category that I wanted to be my default, so that everything moved to “General”, and then renamed “General”.

Now a problem has arisen, and I’m wondering if anyone has some advice. Whenever I use MarsEdit to post to my blog, it places the post under whatever category I select, plus the (renamed) default category. It never did this before. Anybody have any ideas?

I did try (after reading your response) to import as admin… Same results.
One thing I noticed is that there is no count up as the import happens. It seems to happen immediately, as though the file were empty. (But it does claim success, so I’m assuming the file is being located.)
When I go into edit, there are no new posts there, drafts or otherwise.
From other comments I’ve found here, I have the impression that it’s okay to have the .xml file in the wp-admin directory. That shouldn’t be a problem, right?
When I do the export from LJ, I highlight and copy the text from my browser page and paste it into a new BBEdit file, then save it as an .xml document. That’s correct, too, right?
Sorry. I feel like I’m screwing up something obvious here.

1.2.1, apparently… (A friend installed it for me on his site so that I could give this a whirl…)
And now… for some bizarre reason, the thing works just fine. I swear I was doing the same thing… I thought… odd…
    Thanks for your patience…
Any advice for how to add more to the excerpt?

    Hrmm…
    Thanks for the response, TG.
I can add the excerpt as per the above link. Is there any instructions you can point me toward to help me add the more link to show in the excerpt?
As far as in the content tag… I add the &lt!–more–> tag in the post, but it doesn’t show. Rather, the whole post continues to appear. Is there something else I should have to do, or should simply the tag at that point in the post do the trick?
(Sorry to be so dense about this. I have been searching on the support pages. Just feel stuck.)

I’d be very interested in an answer, too.
I’ve just started using WordPress, and this is one thing I *must* be able to do.
Is there something I need to add somewhere to allow &lt!–more–&rt to work?
