In reply to: [EntryWizard] User PermissionsI’m still getting ‘Error in upload form: Invalid identifier “example” in shortcode’ despite trying the MS Edge browser and the Brave browser, neither of which has any additions or extensions on my computer. (I normally use Chrome.)
Any other suggestions?

In reply to: [EWZ-Rating] Rating choices by judgesThank you for the very quick response!
More explanation: We typically use three judges who each review and rate around 20 or more images in each of four categories. Pre-Covid-19, we did all of this ‘live’ at meetings, but we’re working to adapt to changed circumstances.
Clarification, please:
We want our judges to use a 1-5 rating system for each image they judge (there could be 20 or more images for each judge to rate in each category).
If we use “Allow vote via 5 star rating” for this gallery, how does the scoring work?
From the Five Star Rating Example in https://www.contest-gallery.com/voting-types/, it appears that clicking on the rating stars for each image in this example gives the number of votes for each rating level (1-5) and the average number of stars for that image. Correct? It would be very useful to have a 1-10 rating system or better a 1.0 to 5.0 rating system. This would avoid tie votes for images.
Thanks. Sounds useful; I’ll give it a try.
Very good; that’s what I was looking for. I look forward to exif data and other features.
A further request: It would also be useful to have an option for Description and Author/Creator to be automatically added from the EXIF data to the upload for the image. Again, this would make the workflow much easier to those uploading images.
Maybe it’s an idea (in a future version) to automatically fill this with the EXIF DateTimeOriginal info? and keep the ability to adjust it manually, in case your camera’s date is off? Just my 2 cents ??
Yes, this is an excellent idea. It makes a lot more sense to have this done automatically on upload than to have to type in the correct date/time. The manual way is too prone to error and takes (unnecessary) time.
EXIF date/time tags are indeed confusing and awkwardly named. The free ExifTool https://exiftool.org/ is an excellent way to deal with metadata generally and date/times in particular.
Thank you; 10.9.7.4.1 solves the problem of saving data changes in the Gallery.
Regarding EXIF data, using the ‘Show EXIF data’ option does display a useful set of camera data. The reason I asked about customizing the EXIF tags was that, for example, the default tag for focal length shows the camera’s focal length (which is fine), but creates some issues comparing focal length for full-frame v crop sensor images.
Regarding automatically assigning image metadata, perhaps you could consider this a feature request. It would make uploading images quicker and simpler if the person uploading could use information already in the image to fill in Name and Title, rather than having to type in that information.
Excellent. Categories behavior is working properly now.
Thanks. I’ll look forward to seeing the update.
A little more explanation of my prior message: If I open the Contest Gallery page with these images, all the images are initially visible, even the ‘Other’ images. But as soon as I use a filter (i.e., uncheck one of the Categories), then only one or more of the 4 designated categories are visible, i.e., just a maximum of 6 images rather than 8. Turning all the filter check boxes back on doesn’t return all 8; I have to reload the page to get all of them back.
Also, separate question/topic: It would be useful if Contest Gallery could show the Caption or Title embedded in the image metadata, and potentially some of the other image metadata. And a question from my original post: Is there a way to see all of the images with the categories assigned? The categories don’t show up in the Gallery, for example. I assume they’re kept in the Contest Gallery database, correct?
Now I see why these two images aren’t showing up: they both have the category ‘Other’.
I was certain I had assigned both to the category ‘Special Topic’. I do recall I had problems with some images getting the category to ‘stick’, but I don’t recall the details. How can I change these? How do I get ‘Other’ to appear if not (in the Settings?).
Thanks.
John
Here’s the information I could extract from the Media Library about the 8 images:
