In reply to: automatic updatesesmi, I don’t understand your comment. I am asking the same question, and additionally asking the OP what they did to attempt to turn this feature off.
@aparker48 I found this helpful post (which also contains a great discussion on why this is a poor choice for WP to make, that is an interesting read)
https://make.www.ads-software.com/core/2013/10/25/the-definitive-guide-to-disabling-auto-updates-in-wordpress-3-7/
Is this what you were referring to when you mentioned that you have taken steps to stop auto updates?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: automatic updatesaparker, I’d like to know how too. And, I’d also like to know where you found ANY settings to turn off… I’d like to do the same. This is an terrible feature that causes all kinds of issues with plugins. Really bad assumption on the part of WP that people want the latest version as soon as it comes out!
Tara, not helpful!

In reply to: How to turn OFF Automatic updatesThanks. Had a good laugh on that one… compatible up to 3.7. Kind of makes my point.
It seems utterly ridiculous to me to control core functionality with a plugin. Why not build it into the settings (like Genesis does)?

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] 3.6 compatability@violent, I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to mention SEO Ultimate’s competitors here. Google it and you can see the top 2 or 3. Your question of whether it is better to wait is kind of up to the developer… I thought it was, because I have it installed on several sites, so I’ve waited. If there is a security breach because of having an outdated version of WordPress it will have been a bad decision.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] 3.6 compatabilityViolent, this has been a great plugin, with the primary benefit over other SEO plugins being that it has “deeplink juggernaut” which allows automatic linking of keyphrases from articles into the main pages of your site.
I’ve been waiting, somewhat patiently, for this to be updated, but am getting a bit worried about not being able to update to the latest WP (worried for security reasons).
I’m thinking about going with another and just see about using the Velvet Blues plugin to rewrite phrases into linked phrases… it wouldn’t be as good as this one being updated of course, but at some point it might be an option.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] Are you still compatible with Genesis?Jeffrey, Do you know if this plugin works well with yours to transfer the SEO data from Genesis to SEO Ultimate?

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] SEO preformanceO.P,
Sorry to hear you inherited a dud site — tools make SEO easier, more efficient. SEO is the art of writing the page content, the titles and tags. Don’t blame the tool.Google doesn’t judge the tool, but rather the quantity and quality of site aspects.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] Are you still compatible with Genesis?Jeffrey,
I wonder if you would consider creating a stand alone Deeplink Juggernaut plugin. That is the biggest star of your plugin, in my opinion, and the main thing that Genesis users don’t get with Genesis SEO.
And, by all means charge for it!

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] Are you still compatible with Genesis?Manually enter all of my title tags on 30+ sites!? Many of those sites are over 100 pages…
Maybe you could create a tool to do that via the database?“The plugin was designed to be modular, so, if you wanted to use Genesis or other plugins for similar things, you could simply disable the module that had a similar feature and toggle on/off the ones that you did or did not want.”
This is what got me into this jam in the first place. The issue is that Genesis now turns their tool off if yours is present, so that won’t work — unless I’m misunderstanding what you are saying.
I’ve asked Genesis to leave the admin in control of when their SEO tools are turned off. Hoping they will see the logic.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] Are you still compatible with Genesis? Thanks for your reply.
Looks like the real issue is that on the site I was looking at, I was using the Genesis SEO tools for Title/Description/Keywords and your plugin for the juggernaut and a few other features.Apparently when I upgraded it deleted the Genesis portion! This is very bad. I’m trapped between the plugin and Genesis SEO for optimization if I don’t want to lose all my Juggernaut links!!
What is your recommendation on how to get out of this situation?
Will your plugin operate this way into the future, or do you think you will be able to work with Genesis to resolve this?In another installation, where I was solely relying on your plugin, the Genesis SEO aspect did completely disappear, and the plugin appears to be all on and working. WP3.6 and Genesis 2.0.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] Are you still compatible with Genesis? In reviewing the issue on another site that I have not updated to Genesis 2.0.
On that site, I had updated to WordPress 3.6. I now realize that you did not post that your plugin was compatible with 3.6 yet.
The good news is that the pages still show the correct Title and meta descriptions – so they are presumably in the database in tact.
The admin area however, does not show any of the historical info for any of the posts nor pages.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] Deeplink Juggernaut almost never works on the first previewNo dampening has been set for either the overall or that phrase.
Some dampening has been set for other phrases, however.
Could it be that the juggernaut is counting links to that page from the main navigation in the count and therefore is thinking it has already linked to that one?
Thanks.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] Deeplink Juggernaut almost never works on the first previewUpdate, it seems to have been a memory issue. But just one nagging thing keeps occurring… the deeplink Juggernaut never links my primary key phrase. I’ve checked to make sure it is is the list correctly and that the spelling is right. I’m having to do a manual link every time for just this one phrase.
