I found ! There was a function in function.php which set the default role. I removed the function, and now everything works. Thank you again for your help

I did it too, whatever value I put in default_role (subscriber, administrator…), in backend, the value remains the last role created with UM.

I also tried this method but the setting does not register. It systematically repositions itself on the last role created.

It works on registration form in frontend but in backend (user -> add) , the default role is always the last role created with UM.

All is now Ok with V2.2.1 !

Same problem, but no solution even after re-install extension and empty cache.
