I’m trying to stick to biological/evolutionary terminology for the theme of the site. The first of those links is the link to the category archives to which the post belongs. The name “Genus:” is meant to evoke a category in Linnaean taxonomy. ??

The second link is nothing more than a standard permalink to the single post.

moshu: Yes, that is intentional. I can see reasons why someone might not want to do that, but to be honest, I like it that way. ??

Are you using rewrite rules without an .htaccess file?

I believe that the character is supposed to be the caret ^ (Shift-6).

When you write a post, uncheck the “Attempt to ping URLs in this entry” (or something to that effect) box below the post entry area. If you are Trackbacking some offsite URLs, put them in yourself.

If you can’t see any of this in the posting area then turn on the advanced posting controls.

Look for the place where you style your

• tags and add the line
  list-style-type: none;

That will remove any bullets.

If you want to change the bullets to something else, check out
the CSS reference.

If you have a permalink structure using an .htaccess file, make sure you don’t use relative links when you link to the images.

It might be that the calendar isn’t big enough to fit in the box. Try making the box bigger or padding etc. smaller until it fits.

It isn’t finished, but if you’d like to pick it apart and customize it, go right ahead.
