Thanks for looking at the site.
Here is what I see when I open the Featured Content tab:
https://snipboard.io/ZuU8ze.jpgThanks for responding, and taking the time to look at the site.
I had selected the option “Do not display tag in post details and tag clouds,” Which is probably why it appeared they were not tagged “featured.”
I tried removing the tag, updating, and then adding it back in and updating again. Still no rectangular images.
Thanks for the info. I went back and made sure the following two posts were the only ones with the tag “featured,” and the only two with rectangular cropped featured images:

https://www.themodelshipwright.com/2015/03/29/scratch-building-a-plank-on-bulkhead-ship-model/I cleared my browser’s cache and reloaded the page, but I’m still getting just 12 square images. I even deselected the “Also display tagged posts outside the Featured Content area” option in the featured content tab just as another possibility, but no change.
I think it may be time to look for a different theme.
Thanks to everyone spending time to help on this. The rectangle images is a small issue, but it’s why I picked the Apostrophe 2 theme.
These are the images I uploaded as feature images for the two posts I tagged featured.
If I click on them from the edit post page, they show square, but when I call them up from the media library they are the proper rectangle shape.Hi, Thanks for responding. The photos I uploaded are cropped to the exact ratio of 2.06 to 1 that is given on the theme instruction page. I’ve also set “featured” to be the tag that marks featured posts, and tagged two posts with the word “featured.”
Thanks for replying.
I see squares as well. That is the problem. Featured posts should have images that are two columns wide as shown in the demo.
https://snipboard.io/hycQLU.jpgInstead, my featured posts are displaying the same square image as other posts.

In reply to: Continuous hacksOh, and I used a security plugin that scanned the image files I left on the site to see if there was executable code hidden in them, with negative results.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Continuous hacksI’ve worked my way through all the resources, and finally deleted all the website files except my uploaded images, and reinstalled fresh WP files and fresh plugin files. I did complete site audits with Winmerge to make sure there were no rouge files, created new complex passwords and new API keys.
The sites stayed clean for less than a week.
The hacks seem to be across all my domains, and include both added files (in the WP folders and root directory) as well as php code injected into existing WP files.
Anybody else having these persistent attacks even with everything up to date?
