I went back to 1&1.com and logged in to see PHPMyAdmin and the old database does look different than the new one. (I don’t really know how to “read” what’s happening there.

Apparently the “conversion” of databases didn’t work? How do I fix this? Repeat the steps I apparently did erroneously before?! (Again, I do have these posts backed up).

That was my assumption. If everything else moved correctly, don’t the posts move also?

How does one check whether the old posts are successfully in the new database? I DID import the old MySQL database and read it into the new one…

Ok, I’m able to log in and access my dashboard now.

And I was able to reselect my old theme and reactivate my plugins.

So the install is seeing some of my stuff.

One problem: Where are my old posts? The blog is not showing them–just a new “Hello World” post.

(At least, I’m starting to get optimistic…)

I lied–I forgot I had changed password and miswrote it in my wpconfig.php file.

I seem to be “in”.

I upgraded to a MySQL database, exporting my old 4.0 database to 5.0.

I put the line “AddType x-mapp-php5 .php” into my .htaccess (there is supposed to be a space before the period there, right?

I put in my blog’s URL and I get that error message…

GOOGLING “1&1.com MySQL version” got me to a run through on what I apparently need to do.

And you’re telling me that with respect to the PHP5 I can just open my current .htaccess file and add the line

AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

at the end of that file and all will be well with any PHP issue?

Yeah, I made backups.

And actually my blog is still “visible” at jerrypettit.com/blog — I just can’t access it any more as administrator.

I did backup (did the “to the server” option AND then downloaded to my computer–I was surprised at the small size of the downloaded file…hope I did that right.

I’m GOOGLING in meantime. Thanks for the quick input. I hope I get through this…

Installed latest firefox flash update. Still nothing.

(I’m okay in windows explorer–so clearly a firefox issue I’m having…)

Just “chatted” with my son in Japan who says he can see all just fine.

Must be a local (my computer) problem.

I haven’t downloaded any new stuff, though…

I’m not using the Default Theme, and when I went back and edited an entry to add a tag, nothing displayed.

The most current post there–a video about the war in Gaza–I attempted an edit wherein I tagged it as “war” with the slug also being “war”. Did a new “Save”, and went back to the post but there is no change. The tag “war” is not showing.

Does this mean I need to add some kind of line to my template and, if so, what and where?
