Seriously? That is the laziest support response I’ve ever received. I’ve followed all the guidelines and it still doesn’t work.
I have run into this problem again. Turns out this has nothing to do with the visual vs. text editor. The actual problem is that the short code generator DOES NOT WORK in Internet Explorer. I tried Chrome and it works fine in there.
Yeah I thought that was probably the change. I can understand why. It does create less confusion for an Administrator. However, it WOULD be nice to have the option to restrict content for the Administrator role with Ultimate Member. I found another plugin that has this functionality and that is good because it does allow extra control of what menus are visible for Administrator. The issue is that I have multiple versions of menu items for various user roles, and when they all show up in the Administrator menu it is a bit confusing. So, my suggestion is, for future updates, to at least allow the option of ticking Administrator in the access options in menus and pages. Another recommendation also: It would be nice to have the user roles available in QuickView; it would make editing permission quicker than loading pages. Other than that all is running smoothly now with 2.0.9. Thanks, Jason
UPDATE — I have discovered that the problem is this: “Administrator” is no longer an option in controlling access for menu items. “Admin” is still there, but that does not affect the main administrator account. As a result, when performing the latest upgrade, all menu restrictions assigned to “Administrator” are now null. ??
The problem seems to only have affected my admin account, so that is good. But unfortunately I have to redo the menu permissions for admin. Hopefully with future updates we won’t have to do this. Thanks.

Okay, I figured out that the only way to edit this is to go into FTP and manually edit password-reset.php.
File path: wp-content/plugins/ultimate-member/templates/
Resolved.
Thanks! And, correction regarding the link above… I meant https://ultimatemember.com not https://ultimatememberdemo.com

I almost had a panic attack a few minutes ago when on every browser my site was showing with a generic, vertical menu, and all graphical layout completely screwed up. I deactivated both the main Ultimate Member plugin and my extension, then reactivated both and refreshed the page. Fortunately this solved the problem (for me). Just thought I’d mention in case it helps others.
Thanks @tekfused.
Okay, I figured this out, but not without a lot of frustration.
Step 1. – Upgrade to 2.0.4. Ignore error codes that might show in WordPress. They are confusing.
Step 2 – If you have an extension, you cannot simple click on the update button in WordPress. First, delete (not just deactivate) the extension from your plugins list in WordPress.
Step 3 – Then log into your account at https://ultimatememberdemo.com/login/
Step 4 – Go to Downloads. The newest version will be there even though the version number is not shown. Download to desktop. Keep ultimatemember.com open.
Step 4 – Upload the plugin manually to WordPress.
Step 5 – Go back to your account at https://ultimatememberdemo.com and click on Settings -> License Keys -> Manage Sites. You now have to re-activate your license key.
Step 6 – Refresh your WordPress website, then check to make sure your user roles in Ultimate Member on WordPress are correct and also that your extension settings carried over.
I did all these steps and it works for me now.

Actually it looks like it may not be a problem of visual vs. text editor. It seems that the shortcode generator may not work in Internet Explorer. Works okay in Chrome.
Fixed. I was in the visual editor and the shortcode generator apparently won’t work in there. I was able to generate shortcode without a problem when switching to the text side.

Excellent! Thank you very much! That worked.
