Ok. Tried that. Still doesn’t let me disable sharing on media. And I realized it only prevents me disabling sharing on media and links. I am using Simple Links plugin for the links but even when that plugin is disabled, it does the same thing on media files. It IS working correctly on pages and posts though.

I am wanting to do the same thing. I have MU because each subdomain will have different themes, plugins, and tools specific to that user group and the main site has much more extensive customization. However each subdomain is specific to a category on the main site so I’m trying to get the posts from the subdomain to also show under that category on the main site. I tried WordPress MU Sitewide Tags Pages plugin but it does not work with my customized child theme for the main site. It doesn’t break anything, It just doesn’t do anything and when I try to save the settings for that plugin, they do not save. I’ve posted the issue on the plugin page but I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to find another way to get the posts from the subdomains onto the main site.
There are too many posts to Share each one myself and I want to heed your advice about avoiding rss feeds – as my network is pretty heavy already.
Any other tips for accomplishing this task?

I tried what you suggested – setting all category sidebars to “archive” but I am still getting all the category sidebars on a post page for the categories that the post has been assigned too.

View this post page as you will see there are several sidebars showing.

But I want the sidebars to be the same as they are on the post feed page View Here – these are the default sidebars.

I’ve even tried to create sidebars and selected “All posts” with the same widgets as the page immediately above. I tried selecting it as “single” and as “archive” – always selecting “replace” but every individual post page shows the same as the top link.

Other things I can try?

I’m looking to change up the rss feed for my calendar some. Can anyone give me some pointers? Using the MC template code doesn’t seem to be working so I must be doing something wrong. Specifically, I want to add the short description and location in a paragraph format, not hcard and make the event title or header a link to the details page. How would I do this if I can’t use the MC templates in the {} braces? Thanks in advance.

no. the sidebars go back to the defaults with this also.

when I replace line 611 (version 0.8.2) with
SET OPTION SQL_BIG_SELECTS = 1; SELECT
it makes the entire plugin stop functioning. All sidebars go back to the default and none that I setup in content aware sidebars show up.

should it look exactly like you type above or is there something else I need to put into the code to make it work?

It works with the default setting but not with the author permission level for adding a new post. I just went back to the default.

i figured it out. i didn’t have the example csv file to look at. i had to deleted a lot of extra fields to get it to work, but it worked. thanks.

both imports appeared to have worked but when I went in to look at the users they appeared the same as doing the import through the admin side, many missing and usernames, emails, etc mixed up.

for FTP – first I exported the file from our existing site database, then imported into our ftp site, then went to the new database and tried to import from the ftp
for the straight transfer – I exported the existing database file, including the data through mysql. Then went into the new mysql database and imported that file.
