In reply to: [bbPress Simple View Counts] New bbPress Simple View CountsYes, it was uploaded – hopefully you got the update! Please let me know if it updated OK and the new version is working as hoped?
Use the config page to switch on member tracking (off by default) and then on the top of posts you should see the member count in the little info panel.
Cheers.

In reply to: [bbPress Simple View Counts] New bbPress Simple View CountsYep. Done it.
So the plugin now has an options page and you can select to show views or how many members have read the post.
It doesn’t show who has read it, just the count. Displaying who has read it seemed like a breach of privacy although obviously the plugin will track this if the option is selected.
I just need to test and upload it!
Thinking about adding a widget next. Most viewed post type of thing.

In reply to: [bbpress Simple Advert Units] Header ad display issueYour site looks a little different now, I couldn’t see that obscured text box but it looks like you might have removed it? Was the screenie from a test area?

In reply to: [bbpress Simple Advert Units] Different ads for each forum/topicGlad you got it working. Seems like a nice way to handle it, I’m not sure I want to make the plugin work at a too granular level as it will become hard to manage different ads for different forums – I always wanted it to be simple!
Yes, whoever suggested shortcodes did the plugin a big favour ??

In reply to: [bbpress Simple Advert Units] Slowing site downThere is an option to show the ad after the 2nd post, but nothing to show after every x posts.
I would think most people only show 10 posts per page.
Does the plugin slow sites down? Not that I notice. It doesn’t do a lot really behind the scenes. Perhaps loading up the ad will add some load time but if you use eg adsense then you’d hope Google are pretty quick at serving ads!

In reply to: [bbpress Simple Advert Units] "Unit Location" options not showingIs this still an issue? It sounds like it hasn’t activated properly. Try deactivating and reactivating.
Let me know if this is still a problem and I’ll have a think about how we can fix it.

In reply to: [bbpress Simple Advert Units] Header ad display issueHmmm, I don’t get that on my forum so I wonder if it is something to do with your theme.
Could you add a dummy line break or two to force things down, or perhaps some additional css is required.
eg. After google’s code, add
or <p>.Is the adunit a “responsive” unit?
As a quick aside, Simple View Counts is definitely still maintained. I use it on a couple of big forums myself! If anyone spots a bug or has a feature request then please get in touch via the plugin’s forum or the other contact details supplied.
Cheers ??

In reply to: [bbPress Simple View Counts] New bbPress Simple View CountsThat would work well in a members only forum, if only registered users could see the post then if you have 10 members you would never see more than 10 views. Upon each visit you could just record the member id against the post.
I think if you are looking to record unique visitors you are better off with a professional solution, for example WordPress stats or Google Analytics will track unique views more reliably.
Even vbulletin doesn’t show unique views, and actually, for performance reasons, they don’t even update the counter instantly.

In reply to: [bbPress Simple View Counts] New bbPress Simple View CountsActually, unique logged in users would be easier. Would that suffice? Actually, you do say members so that means registered users? That can be done.
I think I’d do that as a first step. And maybe IP.

In reply to: [bbPress Simple View Counts] New bbPress Simple View CountsSo you want a “unique visitor count” rather than just a “hit count”?
It’s something I can look at, it’s not straight forward though as you have to identify a user, record that they have visited already, and then test upon each page load whether the user has seen the page before. On a site with large numbers of visitors / posts this could result in a performance hit. The table that records this could run into millions of rows…
AFAIK forums typically display a hit count for this reason.

In reply to: Unable to log in to site after trying to create new memberOK, sorry. As I said, I think we are on the same server.
I’ve fixed it anyway, no need for my own thread.
Cheers.

In reply to: Unable to log in to site after trying to create new member@esmi I have the same issue at the same time and would like to share information so that we can resolve it more quickly together. I don’t see how we can do this in two separate threads :/ Isn’t WP all about collaboration!
Anyway, @camelotwebdesign @johodges perhaps we are on the same host! What is strange is that one of my sites does not have this issue.
I have raised a support issue with my host. Would be interested to hear if you guys get a resolution!
Cheers.

In reply to: Unable to log in to site after trying to create new memberJust got this myself. Noticed it is on a couple of my sites, but not all. The one that is working doesn’t have any auto updates on so I’m wondering if this is the issue (ie some dodgy update has been pushed). I guess the first thing to do is remove plugins, or perhaps I’ll pop on last night’s backup.
It was all fine 20 mins ago.

In reply to: [Tweet Wheel] Custom Taxonomy to Hash TagNo probs, add this in and you have my perfect plugin.
Well, that and my other request – multi account support. ??
Cheers.
