In reply to: [Widget Responsive for Youtube] Videos disappearing? We haven’t installed anything new. We have an automatic update plugin, so I’m not sure what has been updated recently.
And the plugin does seem to work… in that were able to replace it on the pages where it disappeared.
It’s almost like someone went in and deleted it from all of the sidebars (we have many, using Content Aware Sidebars). But we know that isn’t the case.
I checked the database and it does seem that all references to the plugin are gone from the options table, except for those we added back in.

In reply to: What is the “s” parameter in the url?Ah, thank you.
OK, I did that, but the only two options that generate the correct IP address (X-Forwarded and X-Real) throw up warnings about the risk of spoofing. I’ve selected X-real for now, because Wordfence keeps locking me out because of the brute force attacks being perpetrated from elsewhere.
Is there a different solution to this?

In reply to: Site Health Check failure: Plugin preventing updatesOK, the loopback error says too many redirects:
The loopback request to your site failed, this means features relying on them are not currently working as expected.
Error: Too many redirects (http_request_failed)My hosting provider says I have too many redirects and tells me to use this tool to identify them:
https://varvy.com/tools/redirects/
Ihe tool says my setup is correct (one redirect, from www to non www) and results in a status 200.
I’m stumped.

In reply to: [Themify Builder] Update breaks my siteIt does seem to be related to your PHP level. I moved mine from 7.2 to 7.3 and that resolved it.
The error is the “Critical Error” that WordPress gives you when a plugin fails for some reason. I don’t have a screenshot

In reply to: [Themify Builder] Update breaks my siteAh, thanks for that. Actually I was on 7.2… but I updated it to 7.3 and that resolved it.

In reply to: [Participants Database] How to export fields as textThanks David, that’s helpful.
Just to clarify:
If I select File > Open and choose a .csv file, Excel opens the file, but reformats the data (drops leading zeros, changes dates to 2-figure years).
If I change the file extension to .txt and do the same, Excel walks me through the text import wizard and I have an opportunity to preserve the data format as text.
As you note, it’s the same text file, but Excel treats them differently. Maybe a Mac thing?
Anyway, I can work around it and the template idea will help.
Thanks again.

In reply to: [Participants Database] How to export fields as textThank you both. I did find that the actual data in the CSV is unaltered. But when I open the file in Excel (on a Mac) Excel automatically converts the data and alters it.
I did find that if I change the extension on the file from CSV to TXT and then open in Excel, I have an opportunity to change the formatting of the columns. It’s a little clunky and ideally I’d like to be able to just open the file — but I’d need to change Excel’s default behavior. Is that possible?
The other question is, why is WordPress getting my IP wrong?
Hi Peter:
Thanks for the suggestion. I was able to install Wordfence Assistant and changed how Wordfence gets IPs. However, now I’m getting an error email from Wordfence that says that setting is not configured correctly:
High Severity Problems:
* ‘How does Wordfence get IPs’ is misconfigured

In reply to: Softaculous auto update option? Thanks, I appreciate the advice.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Site moved but Softaculous doesn’t know itOK, maybe carike answered this above, but here is another scenario:
When I redesign/redevelop a WordPress site, I will create a subfolder (i.e. newsite) on the server where I will install a second WordPress installation and develop the new site there (i.e. public_html/newsite)
When I’m done, I back up, then delete all the files for the old site (in public_html). Then I move all the new site files up one level from newsite to public_html.
I update urls in the new site and I’m good to go.
However, now Softaculous shows two installations:
1) The original in public_html (which has been deleted)
2) The new site in public_html/newsite (which has been moved to public_html)How do I handle this?
Based on what Carike says, I guess I would delete the old installation (without deleting any files) and then update the url and path of the new installation.
