In reply to: WYSIWYG Stopped Working in 2.5I tried deactivating all my plugins, as well as changed themes temporarily, then switched back (apparently helped others), but no luck. I also removed the TinyMCE folder, then uploaded the latest one, still no love. Seems a lot of people are having the same problem, so hopefully we can resolve this soon.

In reply to: WYSIWYG Stopped Working in 2.5I’m having the same exact issue, but only in Internet Explorer…works fine in Firefox though. Did as you too, Visual Editor was checked, but no dice. Generally I wouldn’t care ’cause I pretty much use Firefox, but my client uses IE, so I gotta figure this out.
So yeah, I’m missing all the icons that usually sit right below the Add Media icons, such as the Bold, NextGen Gallery, Bullet List, etc.
Woah, wait, how is this topic resolved? If you found the solution, please post it. Thanks.

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] NextGen breaking Admin area in 2.5.1?Fixed.
Just downloaded the latest version and uploaded to my server, and bam, it done did the trick.
I used the latest version last week I think too, but I did the auto upgrade, so maybe that had something to do with it.
Anyways, works like a champ now and I like the additions Alex. Nice work.
Thanks for a great great great plugin.
Peace.

In reply to: [Plugin: All in One SEO Pack] All-In-One-SEO Pack REDUCED my trafficChances are, it has nothing to do with the awesome plugin this guy made, it’s probably because you significantly changed the structure of your titles. The old titles had worked their way into the search engines and now you’ve changed ’em.
Sometimes it takes a bit for the new titles to take effect with Google and the like. Changes like these sometimes really affect traffic, negatively initially, however, if you hold on for a sec, generally it’ll really pay off just after the short-run.
My client’s site, whom I implemented this plugin for, is frickin’ blowing up right now. I made some other changes/additions that really hurt traffic though, but after a month or so, they’re starting to dominate Google for some relatively high traffic keyword phrases…number one spots. This plugin rocks!
Peace.

In reply to: Multiple Copies of the Same PageGoogle hates duplicate content, so you should really think thrice about your intentions. Even if you’re changing it a little from page to page, chances are, they’re still gonna flag and subsequently penalize your site. They have Artificial Intelligence readers that scan pages and pages for well written, or poorly executed content. A good rule of thumb is to base your site’s content as if the Google CEO was checking our your site himself.
Good luck.

In reply to: Shorten permalink url? Thanks for your input. I still want to keep the url short and to the point, as it’s important when go after highly competitive keyword phrases.
Peace.

In reply to: Shorten permalink url?By the way, this is for pages, not posts.
Anybody else have any ideas? I want to take my client’s site live, however, it’s imperative that we start off with short urls. I don’t want to change them later for misc. SEO reasons.
Thanks.

In reply to: Permalink: /parent/child to be just /childMeekamoo, did you have any success yet? I’m having the same issue, but haven’t found a solid solution.
I want to keep my menu options organized too, thus I don’t want a bunch of links running down the side of my page…looks extremely unprofessional and busy.
Ciao.

In reply to: WordPress 2.5 HackedIf all else fails, ask your host to restore your site to the earliest backup. This, however, may pose a problem if you added a bunch of stuff to your site within the last couple days, yet their most recent backup is from last week.
Good luck.

In reply to: Changing the Permalink structureIf you have access to a control panel, such as cpanel (or hsphere, plesk), through your web host, you can add the 301 redirects quite easily. Look for an option called “Redirects” and subsequently redirect the old urls to the new. It’s pretty simple and quick.
An important note though is that Google’s Page Rank values won’t be passed on to the new url. So, if one of your links had a Page Rank of 5 (which is great), chances are the new url will drop to a zero. This can severely affect your search engine rankings, unfortunately. A way around this though is to contact the sites linking to the old url and ask them to please change it to the new one. This can be quite the challenge however as some of the guys might be too lazy to do so. Lots of “webmasters” are quick to add, but slow to change.
Good luck.

In reply to: customizing permalinks for Pages, not PostsAltering the page slug is a very simple and effective way of customizing the url. I think it’s ideal because you can customize it exactly the way you want it, with minimal effort. How come you don’t want to take this route?
