Hi Joan.
I’m not a WordPress staffer (just another user) but I noticed my side bars were also missing until I cleaned up my the XML code mentioned above. The disappearing side bars were just part of a host of problems produced by the extraneous code.
One big unresolved question is where did that unwelcome code come from? I know I didn’t edit it in and from some experiments, I’m pretty sure it didn’t come from pasting Microsoft Word text into my blog either. I hope the WordPress staff will track this down.

Whew! I spent the morning hand-editing my blog posts to get it to work with Internet Explorer 8. The solution involved finding and deleting XML code such as this:
<!–[if gte mso 9]><xml> Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 </xml><![endif]–><!–[if gte mso 9]><xml> </xml><![endif]–><!–[if !mso]><span class=”mceItemObject” classid=”clsid:38481807-CA0E-42D2-BF39-B33AF135CC4D” id=ieooui></span> <mce:style><! st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } –> <!–[endif]–><!– –><!–[if gte mso 10]> <mce:style><! /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:”Table Normal”; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:””; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:”Times New Roman”; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} –> <!–[endif]–><!–[if gte mso 9]><xml> </xml><![endif]–><!–[if gte mso 9]><xml> </xml><![endif]–>
Thanks esmi. I try to use WordPress’s “paste text from Word” utility which strips out the junk. I may have forgotten to do it at some point. I’ll go back this evening and re-post all my blogs the safe way. …Jim
Hi esmi!
Here is the URL: https://www.BradfordReport.com
I thought so too but I have been scrupulous about putting only a minimum amount of HTML into my postings by hand. Most of the HTML comes from WordPress.
Thanks for helping. …Jim Bradford
