Can you provide more details? What kind of backup you try to do ? Local backup? remote storage backup?
Have you checked your server error logs and checked if there’s something recorded when that happens?
Have you made sure you’re using latest XCloner version?

Can you check and see if you may have some special characters in your FTP or password which may brake the connection? If so try using some username and password containing normal chars and see how it goes.
