In reply to: 2 Blogs – search engines find one and not the otherOK Thanks. I’m not at all surprised by your comment “be patient.”
What I had hoped was someone would know or have an opinion on whether or not the 2 blogs presented a problem in this area.
As I said before, I only maintain the WP.com blog for the re-deirect and my question really is “in doing this do I interfere with search engines” finding the newer blog of the same name, different server?

In reply to: How to add a link to sidebarhttps://landofthehangingchad.com
This is NOT an emergency. Please get back when you can.
As you can see, I’ve added the logo “Lefty Blog” to the end of the “Meta” listing.
I did this to take advantage of the existing code describing placement.
It looks OK, so I’m not sweating it, but I really want it to be a separate entity in the sidebar. When I attempted to do that, I lost the placement formatting and the logo ended up half in the post text.
Thanks.

In reply to: How to add a link to sidebarOK, as usual perseverance pays off — at least in appearance.
I got the logo where I wanted it, so that works out well.
I’m left wondering if I “cheated” with the code. Since I’ve read here that I shouldn’t publish codes in this forum, is there a way I can get advice on that?
Thanks for your help.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: How to add a link to sidebarspencerp,
Well, I sort of followed your instructions and edited in my code into What I assume to be the sidebar code.
I got the logo I wanted, but it is far to the left of anything else in the sidebar.
I’ve read here to not publish code or I would to show you.
Without seeing the code, can you explain how I would move the logo to the right — to correspond to the other sidebar items?
Thanks

In reply to: How to add a link to sidebarIt sounds just great, but when I login>presentaton> I have only a choice of Themes, Theme Editor, and Header Image and Color — Sidebar is NOT an option.
I looked at Theme Editor and it is all code. Unfortunately I don’t know enough code to locate the place where I should insert the new code IF in fact that is what I should do.
V 2.0.4
Thanks again.

In reply to: links in commentsI’m pretty sure the key, as you observed, is starting the url with https:// ??
Me too . . . now!
I installed “Xinha”, a Firefox wysiwyg editor, and it works fine, solving the problem of writing in html – not my first language.
Thanks for help.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: links in commentsVery strange . . . when I tried what you suggested, to worked for me too. I would swear it didn’t before.
Could it be that I didn’t type in the entire url — perhaps as I casually do all the time, leave out the “htp://” part?
And I didn’t try the longer urls, but I will do that and also google for wysiwyg editors.
Thanks.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Trackback-How?Thank you very much. I wish I had read your “TestTrack” readme. If I had, I’d not have asked the question.
I may ask another if I can’t locate the toggle for “allow them or not allow them.”Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Trackback-How?I have read the very item you suggest — several times, but unfortunately (call me a slow learner) it doesn’t answer all the questions I included in my post.
It suggests that a trackback might include only a portion of my comment, or the whole comment, but can I control that?
And it suggests that pingback might be better, but maybe not.
And most of all my question of when I post on my own blog — either including a quote from “Bob’s Blog” or only a reference,(I’ve now found the option to send trackback)should I use the url of the Blog or the specific post on the blog.
It is GOOD ADVICE to suggest we questioners do some reading before asking questions, but sometimes even after reading, there are questions.

Works like a charm. Thanks.

In reply to: FeedsOK.
Sending 2 links. One actual link that takes you to the blog, and one that is used for live bookmark.Actual: https://landofthehangingchad.com
Living bookmark: https://landofthehangingchad.com/?feed=rss2
The living bookmark “feed location” resulted from my clicking and icon on my blog.
I don’t know how to send html via this forum. OK, now I realize the linls turn into html when I send.
If neither on works, then I have typed them incorrectly.
And I now see when checking the lnks on the published post that I get an error on the bookmark link, and of course I don’t understand that error message. Hopefully you do:).
