In reply to: Include password-protected pages in search results? The website I’ve built is for a dermatology practice and we’re looking for an easy way to give our patients their biopsy results online. Our patients usually have multiple biopsies so we want to give them all the results in one place.
We can output our biopsy results as a CSV file, and I’ve tweaked the CSV Uploader plug-in to create a password-protected page with each biopsy result (don’t worry there’s no personal info to identify patient in title or page content, just the facts about the biopsy). Each of the pages for a particular patient will have the same password. They’ll also have a text-string unique to that patient as part of the title that we’ll tell them to do a search for once they’re on our site. That will give them a list of all their biopsy results in one place, and when they click on one they can enter their password and if their browser accepts cookies they won’t have to enter it again to see their other ones. We’ll be able to give them their search term and password before they leave our office and they’ll be able to check anytime on all their results, past and present.
But, because most of our patients are elderly and not completely computer saavy, we don’t want to have to add a step to make them register for an account before they can find their results. So…we’d like the password protected pages to show up as a search result for non-members.
