Just to note, you can change the IPTC fields in bulk quantity with Adobe bridge, so if you set them all to blank WordPress should pick up the img name as the title as it does by default. Give it a shot, shouldnt take more than 5 mins!

I think I know why you’re getting this error as I have just run into a similar problem. It seems WordPress is naming the image based off the IPTC field labeled ‘Description’ . It seems your camera may be putting in its name into the IPTC Description field. To view/edit the values of these EXIF/IPTC fields you can see it through a photo editing software, I am using Adobe Bridge to do this.

Also to note, it seems it only changed the name to the Description when the description is under a certain amount of characters, too big of a description it will just use the image name.

Sorry for getting back so late to this, have been swamped with new work and school. I read this after I just installed the 12.01.16 version / ran it on a brand new test site. When I first when to do a background backup i received an error saying there was a backup in progress. I didn’t see any in progress, and clicked clear backups. After this the manual backup has seemed to work. I will test out the beta version (note: this isn’t on the wordpress site yet) and let you know how it works.
