I ran a Health Check from the Dashboard. One of the items is:

    Outdated SQL server Performance

The SQL server is a required piece of software for the database WordPress uses to store all your site’s content and settings.

For optimal performance and security reasons, you should consider running MySQL version 8.0 or higher. Contact your web hosting

Is that likely to be the cause?

Correcting my last sentence: I made a back up, so I can restore the site to the current state.

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

I am encountering this on all my sites. I went to a test / demo site that I set up. It has the current WP core. It has only 3 plugins, Optin Monster, The HostGator Plugin, and WPVivid. The first two currently need updates. It was running the Astra theme. The HostGator Plugin is not present on the other sites I have had the issue with.

With the Astra theme, the same thing happened. I activated the Twenty Twenty Four theme. The same thing happens. In fact if I select one of the two plugins for update and then unselect it, the Select All box remains checked.

Here’s a loom video of the behavior: https://www.loom.com/share/61fb9db018c045b7935032d0979f2fdb?sid=73272de6-7c71-4707-bba4-0ffe616dd481

If you still need me to do the more extensive testing, let me know and I will.

Once I update the plugins, it will be hard to do the testing again – I won’t have anything to check/uncheck.

I got access to the full list of database sections. (I don’t know what was different) There is no section called ?‘wpvivid_staging_data’.

There are 4 tables with “option” in their names.

wpi1_options, This has 21 entries with the string: “wpv”, but none are what you specified. The closest is “wpvivid_staging_data”

    wpi1_wpvivid_options: This has zero rows.

wpvividstg01_options: This has 20 entries with the string “wpv”, but none as you specified. Those 20 have 3 with “staging”: wpvivid_staging_history, wpvivid_staging_task_list, wpvivid_staging_data

    wpvividstg01_wpvivid_options: This has zero rows.

Here’s a list of all tables that result from filtering for “wpvivid”

Unlike my previous attempt, I am now having trouble getting past the top level of the database. I believe that’s a phpAdmin issue of some sort. I think I was logged into the hosting account the first time, but I am not now and currently can’t do that.

I will need to work on that. I am still interested and need the help.

    (@jkengineer)

I tried using the phpMyAdmin in cPanel first, but saw 5 databases and searching for wpvivid or for staging returned no results.

I installed the plugin and went to Enter local phpMyAdmin.

I found one entry wpi1_wpvivid_options and 64 entries that start as wpvividstg01_. None were _staging_data or had “staging” as part of the name other than the “stg” in the initial field.

    I’m thoroughly confused.

I’m sorry to hear that, but very much appreciate your prompt reply.

@threadi Thank you for the response and for checking. I have reported it as you suggest, see https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/50152

    Thread Starter JKEngineer

    (@jkengineer)

It’s not resolved, it’s just a major pain to which I have not returned yet.

    Thread Starter JKEngineer

    (@jkengineer)

Sort of an update: I did not get notified of your response by WP and only just saw it. So I haven’t done anything yet. I will try your suggestions.

I wonder if the first thing I should try is deactivating the SSO plugin. A Google search says it is for login control, not, as I suspected “Server Side Optimization”. The only way I can think of doing that is to go into file manager / FTP and rename its directory. Thoughts?

    Thread Starter JKEngineer

    (@jkengineer)

I deactivated all optional plugins. The is one MU plugin that does not have the option to deactivate (SSO by Garth Mortensen, Mike Hansen).

I reran the preview. It reported 5 errors, but the field in the report to show the errors was empty: [ ]. Each of the events had their start and end times the same (which is true for many of our events). Your trouble shooting guide suggested that this might be an issue, so I edited each of the 5.

I reran the preview and got 6 more events in error. I think these are all new events (no duplicates from the first list), but I’m not certain.

    What do you suggest now?

    Thanks.

    Thread Starter JKEngineer

    (@jkengineer)

    Update.
I edited our source CSV file to make all the events 6/1/2022. There were no events yet listed for 6/1/2022. This made 28 events to import. I uploaded the file and the import reported that 22 events were imported and briefly indicated that 1 event was updated.
In looking at the events, I see that there were duplicates created by my assigning a single date to everything, so I think 22 is correct.

Looks like it was indeed a PHP problem.

    Thread Starter JKEngineer

    (@jkengineer)

We do imports monthly. We had the same problem again now. 5 events get imported. If they are not removed from the CSV before trying again, those 5 get updated and the rest are ignored.
I just went through the exercise of importing the file, deleting the first 5 events, and repeating that until all events were imported.
We have 2.5.2 of The Events Calendar.
The cPanel indications were not consistent. It appears that the site may have been on PHP 8. I just downgraded to PHP 7.4. (This means I incorrectly reported my PHP version previously.)

Is it possible that the PHP version was also affecting the issues I have with your new display showing the dots version on desktop?

I won’t have any more events to import until next month. I may try some dummy events. If so, I will report back.

It may have been a while since the thread was active, but the users are waiting for you to give us a solution.

    (@jkengineer)

I have manually input the event, but the import issue really needs to be addressed.
