In reply to: RSS Feed – “No such file”Thanks Moshu,
I’ll give the manual install a go – fingers x’d it’ll work this time ??Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: RSS Feed – “No such file”Hi Moshu,
Thanks. I tried unsuccessfully to get WP working on clearcommunication by loading it onto my server myself. Then last week, I realised that my hosting provider was offering the option to dowload WP direct from my control panel.
So that’s what I did. Not being a techie, I called them for advice on how to ensure that the homepage of Clearcommunication.ie is my blog. The advice I got was to save WP into a folder called /clearcommunication.ie. A few tweaks in the control panel later and clearcommunication.ie/clearcommunication.ie is the homepage. Not how I would ideally want it, but it was as good as I could get from my hosting provider.
Now they’ve removed the option to download blog s/w from the control panel, so I’m guessing that means they’ll no longer offer support of any kind – given that the guy on the phone was really surprised WP was on offer in the 1st place!
I’d like to fix the double clear communication URL, but
a) I’m not sure how to do this and
b) I’m not sure it’ll fix the problem, given that the feed did originally work when i first installed WP.What do you think? Again, thanks for your patience, it’s probably frustrating for techies to get questions like this!
Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Widget plugin not visible in “Presentation”I’ve updated the functions files in both classic and default themes as suggested by Kafkaesqui, but still no joy, either in firefox / IE.
Any other suggestions welcome!
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Error “Your database is out of date – please upgrade”Noooooooooooooo!!! Say it ain’t so! :o)
Just figured out they ( index.php, licence.txt, readme.html and xmlrpc.php)’re all WP files. I’ve also logged a call with the support desk of the web hosting people, so maybe they’ll be able to shed some light too.
Ta.
Hello again,
Yes, it’s the clearcommunication page in my profile I’m trying to get working on WP – when I look at the root directory in filezilla, the only non-WP files I see are index.php, licence.txt, readme.html and xmlrpc.php. I’ll have a go at backing up and deleting them, thanks again for the advice.
Hiya fruitfly,
Thanks for your response, but all I’ve got is the index.php file – nary an index.htm/l anywhere ??
