Thanks for the advice. I followed none of it actually – no time. Tonight I went back into my Yahoo! Small Business hosting account and clicked “Automatic Update to 4.0” and BAM! It worked with no error message. I noticed when I went back to the Dashboard that WordPress News on the site had an error message article – I suspect WordPress may have made a change – or Yahoo! did – and the auto-upgrade button that had always worked like a charm for years worked again quickly and accurately.

Thanks for the informative help attempts above!

    Thoughts?

Nice try – that did not work. Could not find a PHP MyAdminn. I did the steps to rename the plugins folder, etc.. While I was able to do that, when I went to log into my admin panel all I got was the white screen. I did proceed through the last steps anyway but that did not work. sigh…

    Next thoughts?

Can I establish a new blog with no plugins, import the content, delete the first blog, then re-establish the first blog and import the content back into that blog?

    Other thoughts?

    Thanks again!

I did de-activate and re-activate in various orders my two plug-ins. I also tried doing a widget install with NO plugins activated – same issue. I have modified the theme and don’t want to switch. My wife uses the same theme and has no problems with it – Suffusion 3.4.6 – so that’s probably not it.

It seems strange that the HELP button does not work when the plugins are not activated.

How do you “reset” the plugins folder?

Also, this was an automatic install of WordPress via GoDaddy’s control panel… any thoughts there?

I have 4 gig of memory in my PC and run Vista – should be good to go…
