In reply to: moved to a new server – no photosso, i did look into the wp-content/uploads folder, and initially it had text files labelled as each year, but it seemed to be a zip archive, listing the file names.
I’ve tried adding the folders with the appropriate folder organization (year/month/filename), but it didn’t seem to map to the links in the posts. then I realized that if I click “replace” on the block, I can check the URL link, which sometimes seems to be a strange address.
I did just add a photo to the uploads folder, and the link actually worked.
so, I guess I can try uploading all the photos, and still go through post by post, and make sure the links are correct.
thanks!

In reply to: moved to a new server – no photoshere – this post should have an image at the end, and it’s clearly broken:

In reply to: how to move test site to live siteNick,
I just did exactly what you’re planning on doing, and following the instructions at worked like a charm.it really just involves moving your index.php and .htaccess files out of the subdirectory to the root level, and then adjusting the site url settings in the general directory. you may end up with some broken links (i just ran the Velvet Blues URL updater, which i hoped fixed a few glitches).
as always, backup everything before starting!!
good luck,

In reply to: strange parse erroroh dear – this is 6 months old with no answer, and it exactly (or nearly) describes my situation.
I just got this, navigating to the main page of my blog:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /hsphere/local/home/rockvill/tikvatisrael.org/blog/wp-content/themes/default/functions.php on line 407

In reply to: Previously Used Tags Plugini’d like the same thing, and i don’t see any such feature in 2.5
I’ve got the same problem some have reported: when saving, I’m taken to the “preview” screen.
how odd!
i was a bit late in updating, but i’ve just checked out the editor behavior on our blog, and the “Save and Continue Editing” seems to be the default behavior – I don’t get kicked out automatically to the preview page. In fact, after hitting “Save”, the following message displays at the top of the page:
Post updated. Continue editing below or go back.
well, you just reassured me that i can go ahead and upgrade to 2.3! i was under the impression that wp-polls wouldn’t work with the new version.

In reply to: Not receiving email notifications when comments postedafter posting my echo of the above problem, i realized (in the middle of the night, as these realizations tend to come) – that i had noticed this problem before, and the answer, for my situation, was that my ISP requires -f switch in the header.

at least, for me, it’s now fixed (again). my trouble is, every time i upgrade, i always seem to forget that piece of the restore…. ??

In reply to: Not receiving email notifications when comments postedI’m having the same problem – running WP 2.2.1
the last time that i received a notification of a comment posted was Jun 2, 2007 – which was a couple of versions ago, but i don’t recall the exact version number.

thanks for the helpful reminder (i knew what fantastico is – but i also knew i hadn’t set up a cronjob to send this out every day!!)
