In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] JetPack FeedbacksThis really is the worst contact form I’ve ever seen. if you have 10 or 50 spam, then no worries. But when you get hit with 6k and 500 per day going forward, it’s like pissing in the wind trying to delete all of this spam. Worst yet since I keep getting 504 gateway timeouts.
The storage of spam in Feedbacks is the worst thing I’ve ever seen.
I can’t honestly delete more than 30 at a time without crashing my site. by the time I’ve deleted a thousand, 100 more new spams have came in.
I really wish deactivating this stupid contact form would clear all of the stored feedback spam.
Yes, I noticed the same problem a few days ago.
I found 6k spam messages stored in the feedbacks section. even deleting 300 at a time overloads my vps 9 server.
After that, I can’t even use the “empty trash” option because there’s thousands in the trash and it overloads my server without completing the task.
I wish I knew how to delete this with phpmyadmin.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] JetPack FeedbacksTurns out I had over 5k spams from one ip address in China. The database load of all of these feedbacks neatly tucked away and labelled as “spam” by Askimet is massive. The timing of this spam coincided with a recent database crash of my website. Seeing as how I have to manually move it all to trash, then delete it, it’s three hours of my life I’ll never get back. Please fix this vulnerability and make it easier to delete spam messages.
wow. This is terrible.
I’ve been using JetPack comment form on 3 sites. All three have a combined 7,000 spams saved in Feedbacks.
Deleting them 100 at a time is possible in theory, but it overloads my VPS9 Hostgator server.
Deactivating the contact form doesn’t even get rid of this data.
This is something that needs to be fixed.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] JetPack Feedbackswow, it’s even worse than I thought.
You can only move 100 at a time to the trash. Then you have to repeat the process 100 at a time to permanently get rid of this spam.
bemcapa2,
Thanks for responding.
Version 1.32 is working on one of my WordPress installs that has tables named with this format, “wp_comments” etc.
On one of my other sites, the tables seemed to have odd names which must have occurred when I migrated hosts.
The tables are named, “wp_e1ly2l_comments” as an example. Not sure how the “elly21” part was added, but version 1.32 of your plugin is still creating multiple copies of comments.
Is that all that’s happening to you?
Version 1.2 worked fine for me. After upgrading to version 1.3, all of my Facebook comments keep getting duplicated as WordPress comments. Typically between 10-20 copies each. After erasing the duplicate comments, I then realized that it was an on-going process. I consequently downgraded back to version 1.2 which fixed the problem.
What’s worse is that this problem isn’t only occurring on old facebook comments, but new ones as well.

In reply to: Major Problem with installation of wordpress 3.2Hey thanks everyone.
Turns out the problem was caused by the plugin, WP-Insert.
I’ve resolved the issue.

In reply to: Major Problem with installation of wordpress 3.2It’s not minimized. It’s completely gone on the one instal.
Ivan,
I figured out what the problem is. The recommendations say to set the maximum age of old posts to 0 or leave blank if you don’t want to use this option.
That’s the problem right there.
If you set it at zero or leave it blank, it will overload your host and tweet every post on your site instantly until Twitter shuts it down or you host crashes–whatever happens first.
However, if you don’t want it to have a limit, set it to 100,000 or 10,000 for the maximum age of old posts and it works!!!
Hope this helps,
Brilliant idea. But it just tried it and it crashed my site probably due to a server overload.
I had just finished configuring the settings and clicked save. My twitter account: jarretmorrow, must have Tweeted every post on my website.
Has anyone else had these problems? I’ve never had problems with any other plugins for WordPress lately.

In reply to: Hybrid Child ThemeHm, I just found this old post.
I also use the hybrid framework, though I’m far from being able to write my own child theme.
Kinda ironic, I guess.
I did create a Hybrid Child Theme not long after I posted that comment.
Here’s my theme: Hybrid Child Theme.
