You can download the new theme here https://simple-press.com/downloads/default-theme/

    Good luck!

    Hi again!

I believe that this is some kind of permission issue. If possible, please check your database and have a look in the table wp_sfmembers and look for the user you are logged in as. In that table there is a column called admin does your user have a 1 in that column? If not, add it and see if the issue persists.

    Thanks for hanging in there!

    Hi!

Thanks for sharing. Do you get any error messages when clicking the “WP Admin Notice”?

The updates should work, but we can send you a zip containing the theme you are using to see if that solves your issue. What Simple:Press theme are you using?

    Hi Fooey!

Great to hear that you have made the update. Have you updated anything else? What versions of PHP are you running?

When you say that you are no longer seeing any features, what you do you mean? Are there no links under “Forum” in WP Admin?

    Best regards,

    Hi!

There are no ways to get notifications about new posts or post in moderation in the free version.

It depends on your setup. The easiest way to see posts that need moderation is to click on the “New/Updated Topics” button in the forum. If there are any posts that need moderation they will have a small speech bubble indicating that there is a post in need of moderation.

    Hi!

I logged in and updated your settings. From what I can see I can post as a guest. However the caching on the forum pages make things a bit tricky for the users. We often recommend that the forum url is never cached since it can mess up the forum experience.

If in doubt, contact your hosting provider and ask them to set up a rule that excludes discussion-boards from the cache.

Let us know how this goes!

    Hi again!

Could you please try this. The combination of checkboxes is crucial.

    • Go to “Forum” > “Integration” > “Page & Permalink”
    • Verify that “Force the strict use of the WP API” is checked
    • Verify that “Limit forum display to within WP loop” is checked
    • Verify that “Bypass wp_head action complete requirement” is also checked

Sorry for messing this up the last time.

    Hi!

I would start with creating a permission set with these settings:

And after that, you need to set the “Guest” to use “Anonymous” in the forums you want anonymous posting.

    Hi again Robin!

We understand your frustration, especially since it crashed your site. And we are sorry if our answer in any way made you feel that we didn’t care.

We guess it won’t matter what we write since you gave us a 1 star review we just want to give you the whole picture.

Yesterday when we got you email your support question was one of the first we answered in a list of many. We had no idea that WordPress had made an undocumented update in version 6.4.0 that broke Simple:Press (and a lot of other plugins as well). And since you specifically said that you were using the free version we asked you to post in our forums what versions you were using.

However, we released 6.10.5 a few hours later solving the issue. The latest version of WordPress 6.4.1 also has a fix for that issue.

You were unfortunate to try our plugin during that window of a few hours when it was broken due to the WordPress update.

As a lot of other free WordPress plugins, we do not have the resources to help all users personally and that is why we ask our users to post their questions in our support forum.

    Best regards,
    Joakim @ Simple:Press

    Hi!

Please go to “Integration” > “Page and Permalink” and test and make sure that “Force the strict use of the WordPress API” is checked. That should solve it. If not, please let us know!

What theme are you using? And what version?

    Best regards,

    Hi!

    Thanks for reaching out!

You can choose if you want users to be able to post without creating an account. This can be done per forum or group in Simple:Press Admin, and it can be adjusted at any time. For example, you can have some forums that allow users to post without creating an user account. While other forums are only shown to registered users.

    Best regards,
    Joakim @ Simple:Press
