In reply to: WordPress connects to an external server? Cryptic message from hostOr call em and tell em theyre full of crap ??
And I’d switch hosts after getting an email like that. But then I’m picky. ??
That’s my feeling too, but sadly I run the site on behalf of my church, who pay for the hosting in advance, and I’m not sure I can convince them to switch. But I might.
I’m going to see if a plugin like Photopress will work. Quick fix but ugly. Thanks for your help, anyway ??Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: WordPress connects to an external server? Cryptic message from hostI thought so, although I’m glad to hear you say that.
What do you suggest I try?

In reply to: Trip Blog / Photo Website BetaI think it’s really well done – something a bit different from a ‘Kubrick’ mod.
There’s something broken in Safari (I think), hovering over the middle recent posts column causes a small red square to appear on the far left hand side which follows the mouse. Depending on the percentage of your readers who use Safari, you may want to change it (or not).

In reply to: New template from scratch – would love some feedbackThanks for the nice comments – I really appreciate it.
Still thinking of something to put between the post and the welcome bit, but it’s always good to have something to work on!

In reply to: 1 post per page on one page – 10 posts per page on anotherThank you very much – that worked a treat. I’d been coming at the problem the wrong way – trying to change the archive page and not the home page.
I hope you have a very happy Friday.

In reply to: Adding custom 404 to theme and implementing the stylesheetHello Pamela
You need to include the link to the stylesheet in the header of your 404 page (by which I mean the bit between the <head> tags, not necessarily the header.php file).
The link will look something like this:
<link rel=”stylesheet” href=”/wp-content/themes/yourtheme/style.css” type=”text/css”>
Hope that helps
Jo
PS. Love your template ??

In reply to: Cannot redeclare url_shorten()Examining the admin-functions.php file mroe closely, I found that everything in it had been duplicated. This was the case with everything in the wp-admin folder. I just replaced all those files with a fresh install and it worked again.
